02 sensor back order 4 months

Hello everyone.

My car has been off the road 4 months waiting for an 02 sensor

I am so puzzled how can this take 4 months and still lotus can’t say when it will arrive ?

Anyone else waiting for one ?

Amazed there is no aftermarket alternative for this...also worth trying eBay for salvage parts too and getting an indy to fit if Lotus won't. This is ridiculous otherwise. V6 or i4?

When my V6 was in for repairs to front end damage we got the panels in pretty quickly. But all the cheap brackets and electrical bits (sensors, switches wiring) had to be ordered from China. There was no way to find if the items were in stock or get any idea of when they would be delivered or any kind of tracking details. I waited 4 months but I know of 2 other Emiras waiting for similar that had been waiting months longer. All the parts arrived at once - I guess a boat load of requested parts all came in at once.
It may be the same for your O2 sensors - I know the part is made by Bosch but that doesn't mean it comes from Germany. Also if I recall it has a proprietary connector.

It's almost tempting to make a list of "common problematic Emira parts" which aren't all that expensive, especially if both non-OEM and OEM replacements are listed...where not having them readily available will render the Emira non-functional or throw a code which could prevent a track day...so that OCD owners (aka: boy scouts in a past life, who always believe in being prepared) can purchase them in advance. This could also be for Emira owners like me who plan to keep their Emiras for many years, and don't have ready access to a dealer.

I've always stocked up on "the usual commonly used and disposable things" for all my vehicles like engine oil, filters, and more recently Emira transmission fluid.

One such part I need as a DIY Emira owner (although not as important), is a replacement "clip" that's used to attach the cover above the brake fluid reservoir. There are 3 small square white plastic pieces that sit in a black plastic support bracket, being the "female end" where the quarter-turn "stud" (arrow end) enters and locks the cover down, by squishing the cover between the stud and female end. These "female ends" are called the "quarter-turn receptacle" or "riveton fastener". They can easily pop out/down and get lost in the front end of the Emira, if you push down on the male end when it's not connecting properly (ask me how I know, along with several others on this Forum). I've learned today they're Lotus part #A132W6031F and surprisingly cheap for an OEM part (Can$4.59 each, plus ship). I'm now stocking up by purchasing 3 of them from my dealer, since I'm bound to lose 1 or 2 more, during future brake fluid bleeds.

Perhaps we have the start of the list with 2 items: the O2 Sensor and the riveton fastener?

And then add to that: a cabin/pollen filter (I recently purchased 2 and installed one), which GRP also sells for a fraction of the cost of OEM. For awhile, it was out of stock at Lotus. This is OEM part #8890599153 and Greg sells it here:

**PS: I've decided to repeat the above, in a separate thread, so others can more easily spot it and add to it. Hopefully this will create a "go to" reference thread, which helps many. At the very least, it'll be "food for thought" and perhaps ID generic replacements of more commonly needed parts.
