Hooray!
Well said, and good luck.
While the Powerfully-Built-Director types always provide some amusement on car forums (just look at the JUBU thread…) I’m glad sanity has prevailed.
This was always supposed to be a performance mod, first and foremost.
Don't shelve it. Keep it available...
Agreed. And I guess that’s my point - even if I’ve made it in a clumsy way.
Keep it simple. Make it work from a performance point of view.
And if some people want to bling it up to their own personal taste, that’s cool.
Leave it up to them to sort that out.
Unfortunately can’t multi quote, but I’m writing this in the context of what the original poster posted directly above.
I agree 100% with Nick in Sydney*
Personally, while I admire people who can do their own spannering, there is no way I I would buy an expensive sports car from someone who...
While I agree with some of the above, I actually think that the whole overemphasis on here about design has been a negative for this product.
When you say “get something that people love” you are totally missing the point. What YOU might love from a looks perspective, I might hate.
(I’m...
How is that a matched result showing 100hp gain unless you show the result with the same car on the same dyno before the mod?
Can you show the dyno of that car pre-mod?
My totally stock car showed 380rwhp on a dynojet dyno.
If I do the JB4 and it shows 480rwhp + then that’s a verified result...
Just saying, I’m seeing some pretty jingoistic posts in this thread.
Hard to believe for some, but there are people in other parts of the world beyond your own who also know what they’re doing.
I’ll judge JUBU and anyone else I choose to deal with by my own experiences, thanks.
Agree.
Some of the years I had my old Ferrari I’d barely taken it out of the driveway but every year it got serviced.
Stamps in the book (and condition) were everything when it came time to sell. It sends a message to the buyer. I’m not saying this is right or wrong, just the way it was with...
If there can only be one option, may I suggest as close to OEM as possible?
Then those that want to customise can go to town on it as much as they like.
Otherwise you’re going to end up with something that makes one or two people happy but the rest of us won’t bother to purchase.
Maybe I’m weird, but if the thing works, that’s all I care about.
As close to OEM is what I’d prefer, looks wise.
So if there has to be a choice of say three colours / fonts / words / etc. , can we please have one with minimal bling?
Thanks.
Thanks for the write up.
Just want to clarify, I had a look at the instructions online for this and they appear to be for Evora and rather different to genuine plug and play.
Presumably (obviously?) if you buy this for Emira it comes with Emira specific instructions that even a numpty like me...
I’d seriously consider buying provided all warning light issues are taken care of (Aussie spec car), but If I did buy I’d only be able to do the drivers side as my wife would have me shot at dawn if I got rid of the heated OEM seat…
Don’t believe everything you read online.
I had mine for 12 years and apart from one significant issue (which had more to do with an inability to properly diagnose the problem than anything else) it was very reliable.
Like any old Italian supercar, if you buy a poorly maintained shit-box you...
I’m not interested in doing it.
Do the 3rd cat delete, for sure.
Controller? WOFTAM as far as I’m concerned.
It’s all about noise. There’s no other benefit.
And several other hassles come with it.
That said, if it’s noise you want, go for it.
I stand by my comment.
Anyone who is influenced by one of these clickbait clowns (Harry aside, as he doesn’t need to do it) is themselves an idiot.
Whining and controversy equals clicks, equals money, equals flipping cars so they can buy the next one to whinge about.
Would I seriously...
There is definitely something not right with those numbers.
I’ve done 0-100kmh in less than 5 seconds (recorded on dragy) in a totally stock car and with a laughably slow 1st to 2nd gear change (not to mention heaps of wheel spin at the start).
Others have recorded times under 4.5 seconds...
Exactly.
I have nothing against this type of development for our cars (quite the opposite) but people really need to go in with their eyes open.
The thought that you could do whatever you want and then if your car blows up just reverse it, pretend it never happened, take it to the dealer and...
You may be right, but I doubt it's that simple.
I wouldn't be remotely surprised if there is some trace left somewhere that shows something had been done.
Not to mention, if you think Lotus and / or dealers don't read this stuff you should think again.
I once had a throwaway comment (amongst...
The dealer wouldn't care.
But as you say they wouldn't do any work under warranty unless Lotus was paying them, and the suggestion is that if you play around with the ECU and then something blows up Lotus won't cover it.
But they would probably be more relaxed about other mods provided they...
I have no opinion either way in relation to the JB4 and various other tunes.
I'm watching all this with interest and may do something once warranty expires, and when all of these concerns are put to bed one way or the other.
I just make the observation that you must have a very relaxed dealer...
No disrespect, but I’m going to nip this fuel stuff in the bud right now.
As someone who lived with this problem for more than a year and tried pretty much every fuel on the planet to solve it and nothing changed (other than what might be considered “chance”);
Get the latest software updates...
I don’t believe for a moment that an Emira V8 will happen, but if it did I wouldn’t want it to sound like an AMG V8 or similar.
It’s just not the right note for an exotic car IMO.
Perfect for a muscle car, or front engined GT, but not a mid engine supercar.
As someone who obviously tracks their car and drives them hard I’m surprised you chose touring suspension in the first place.
What was the reasoning for that?
I only very occasionally track my cars and don’t really drive them hard at all (in 10,000km I’ve used track mode probably five times)...
Very helpful that @Coreyalert3 has posted this detail and taken one for the team!
It’s clear that he has been quite gentle with the launch (understandably) if I’m reading the 0-60 time of 5.13 correctly.
I’ve managed a 4.80 with a totally stock car without being too brutal and others have done...
Obviously there are different opinions on the dangers of increasing power beyond a certain point in terms of the transmission.
JUBU sell this uprated clutch kit, which they say is good for up to 500hp and 600Nm...
Agreed. But it makes sense if Lotus were originally planning on higher hp / higher price versions later on - would give them plenty of room without having to worry about the gearbox.
Obviously a lot has changed since the Emira was first announced, so who knows?
As an aside, I can’t stand AI...
100%.
I’ve been saying that for ages.
It all comes down to the gearbox / gear change.
No amount of power can overcome a 6 speed v 8 speed and virtually instantaneous gearchanges v slow, manual ones.
Good to hear. Looking forward to your thoughts.
Mildly pissed that they told me no appointments available until next week (12/5) when I called nearly a month ago to book it in…
The car goes in next week so will let you know.
I really hope it fixes the problem as it is worse than ever now.
Doesn’t matter what I do, it stalls every time if cold.
(The previous procedure I was using worked for a while but not any more).
Finally found an option for us here in Oz (sorry if it’s already been mentioned).
40Ah, 13lb, T6 size, Bluetooth monitoring, restart tech, etc.
Not cheap, but certainly cheaper than other options.
Anyone have experience with these...
Waaaaaay too long.
For reference, the Esprit V8 was a whole 1mm longer than an Emira, with a wheelbase 155mm less.
Surely in 2025+ they could engineer a V8 that would fit in the existing Emira dimensions without turning it into a cartoon?
If not why not just replace the gearbox (which is the...
Not to mention he says the redline for the V6 is 6200…
i4 was always going to be faster with the same power and a much quicker changing gearbox, but sounds better?
lol.
