Throttle House names Lotus Emira 2023 Car of the Year!

Their Emira review was my favorite and it was great to see that it won. I ended up with a C8 with similar reasoning to when they said the Cayman GT4 is the better car but the Emira is the better driver's car. I had budgetary plus mostly subjective reasons for choosing the C8 but this is probably...

    Corvette C8

Emira beats C8 in terms of offering visceral driving features like hydraulic (vs electronic) steering, manual (vs DCT), a quarter ton less weight, and compact proportions easier to place on the road. Plus easier to get in/out of with the doors requiring a few inches less space to swing open...

Much rather own a Lotus Exige Cup 430 than an Emira, in Canada.

Not the same price mile for mile. Would be interesting to see how much a 0 mile 430 would be vs a new Emira. Or that used 430 vs a used 9,600 mile Emira.

EVO article on the future plans unwrapped - soooooooon

In the paragraph about LAP they say: "We’re talking beyond JPS Edition Emiras here" then follow that with this black Validation Prototype and what looks like gold wheels. Future Emira JPS Edition incoming?

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

I enjoy that high-pitched whine and wish they silenced the music so I could hear more. Not a sound you normally hear on cars nowadays. Some may say it sounds aftermarket or kit car-ish. I love it when OEMs do from the factory what I would do (or wish I had money/engineering know-how to do...

Further thoughts on the Emira from Chris Harris

What initially caught my attention about Lotus was the Elise sharing the same Toyota engine as my Celica. Then I learned they specialized in handling, even more special than the "on rails" handling Celicas were known for. Then I got into MkII/MkIII MR2s and the supercharged 2GR-FE was a holy...

The “only say nice things” thread

The only mid-engine manual with supercar looks currently in production. And not far off in performance from supercars when they all had manual offerings, pre-DCT era.

    No more production after 2023

The i4's multi-year run starts in 2023, likely the latter half. Higher power variants such as an "R" version hinted by Windle are to come after the FE and BE. Its lifespan has to be long enough to justify its new aluminum rear subframe bespoke to the i4 and partnership with AMG.

    Goodwood - updates and info

@Dommo Shmee drove a LHD model where the wheel felt off-center to the left and pedals off-center to the right. In the RHD version, you say the pedal placement feels perfect. But were they also slightly off-center and did you get a feel for steering wheel placement as well?

    Goodwood - updates and info

Lol according to Goodwood the smoke was due to this: "Don’t worry, it’s not burst a pipe and it’s not dropping any fluids. We hear it was tyre rub in the wheelarch, which is no biggy."

Its width is identical to the LFA which are both 1,895mm wide. But width isn't all that matters because many trucks are wider than those AMGs but lack proportions for a hunkered down presence. Height also matters as well as concentration of mass appearing hunkered down (bottom heavy, occupying...

Message from Matt Windle regarding Emira delays

It's not a Lotus or Geely-specific thing but an industry-wide supplier shortage thing. Nothing compared to C8 customers. Imagine getting on the Z06 waiting list last year and still not having any pricing announced despite the original plan of having it on streets late summer. Or Stingray...

Anyone nervous about street-parking their future Emira?

One reason I used to favor the Fiero or Corvette or Lotuses now including the Emira is the fiberglass composite panels. They should be [but not completely] more dent resistant than sheet metal. And easier to repair spot blemishes.

Agreed. Shmee's was candid, informal, and highly observant/detail-rich. Not your typical corporate review going down a checklist for publication or video production.

Shmee echoes my sentiment on emotional driving engagement vs pragmatic driving utility: "At this price point this is head-to-head against the Cayman GT4. . .I think it does it, though, with more sense of excitement and occasion and slightly less of the clinical precision. But that means when...
