Loads on manufacturers offer carbon as a trim option. Some include as standard Audi, BMW, Porsche etc. You may not care for it but even Lotus have employed in on earlier cars as an option including Elise, Exige and Evora.
The options list is small and CF parts carry massive margin. The cF boot...
You can find 993’s with factory carbon specified from the late 90’s. If tastes were going to turn away from automotive use of CF it would have happened by now.
It’s effectively posh plastic. Doesn’t matter to most that the weight saving is minimal. It looks good. And expensive. They are leaving...
There a lot of profit in it for manufacturers. They could offer it as an option pack then offer the same pieces to existing owners for even more money. I suspect take up would be high. Especially with OEM cachet!
The side intakes, lower body kit under the doors, rear cutouts (at the back of the car that let you see the tyres) and gloss plastic over the front intakes all beg to be replaced with CF.
Lotus could charge a fortune for it and people would buy it. Why no OEM option?
I tend to leave the car unlocked in my garage, tethered to trickle charge. If I’m in the garage listening to a podcast or talking on the phone, and stand within a few metres of the car, the dash lights up, CarPlay activates and the call is diverted to the car. Doesn’t happen if the car is...
In the UK at least, the Emira is unlikely to find itself on the list of cars stolen to order by professional thieves. There are a long list of cars that are on that list so, as a UK owner, I really wouldn’t bother with this at all.
If i owned a fast 4 door Audi, Golf, Defender or modern Lexus...
Hethel make one car now. It’s a big facility for one car. There is simply no way they are going to invest in more petrol powered models with the ban looming. It’s arguably too late. Best we can hope for is a glass roof on the current car and maybe a Cup version based on the i4.
I think on the...
The only car I’ve actually seen with the issue had paint that looked like a bad respray- orange peel effect. That apparently being the precursor to micro blistering.
So, it looks like the issue with the paint is not the same as the issue that used to cause blistering on the Elise/Exige. That was result of panels being painted whilst not entirely dry.
The issue here seems to be result of a metal strip fitted to the inner door skin. Water is getting trapped...
This was fixed at £100. I’ve always been sceptical about PPF but, to be fair, it did its job here. Whatever hit the film hard enough to tear it would doubtless have damaged paintwork significantly.
..get something that offers a different experience. Looks like you are in the US which is a shame as you didn’t get the last of the Elise/Exige which really would offer a contrast.
The entire factory now makes one car. Well, two if you count Evija but that’s got to be a hard sell. Watching the build process, fitting glass roof panels or carbon for that matter, looks straightforward. The recent factory closure was to make changes for the SE. Not many V6’s to be seen. Given...
Source was guide on the factory tour. Most of the cars being produced on the day, were i4. V6 NOT discontinued. I didn’t say it was. I asked if there would be further development, as they have previously offered that engine and gearbox with more power. He stated no. I think it must be easier to...
Im not the first owner of my car. Previous owner had paid for ceramic coating and PPF. I have noticed there is barely any brake dust on the alloys at all. Reminds me of when I had ceramic brakes on a 981 previously. I assume the wheels were ceramic coated as well that would appear to be the...
As speculated, there will be no more development of the V6 and orders are winding down. I’d imagine it won’t be long before it’s formally discontinued. It’s all about AMG now.

The original owner had PPF fitted to my car from new. Under the front number plate to the left, edge of the bodywork, right on the crease, I have a small hole in the PPF. I know you can’t patch it. Anyone know the cost to get that piece done? Super irritated but it has protected the bodywork
If they are fitting doors with a revised design as part of a solution, it would infer all the previous doors carry an inherent flaw. But I don’t think they have to recall unless it’s a safety issue.
I agree. You should be able to park the car outdoors. The issue I have will be shared with many others- my car is a second car, used for fun on nice days. I garage it overnight. I’m in my last year of warranty. If this is a defect that ALL cars will have, then I need it to happen on my car...
I’d like to try to better understand why some cars are suffering with paint blistering while
others are not. I think some owners have their cars outside a lot. Perhaps overnight. If the car is exposed to changes of temperature and left in the rain, regularly, is is more likely to exhibit paint...
For clarity and to save anyone else the bother, I’ve escalated the well documented disappointment with the KEF system to KEF HQ in the UK. They cannot/will not provide any alternate parts not support to address issues with the Emira audio. I suspect it’s the same problem I faced when I tried to...
