    What is this sticker?

I've heard cars with those stickers prevent paint bubbles / door blistering. Remove at your own risk.

    Just super frustrated!

This is funny. But had me wondering... Porsche sold 320k cars last year Lotus sold 12k cars last year. Even if every one of us went the Porsche route instead of Lotus, it would only represent a ~4% increase in their total sales. I suppose a claim could be made that Porsche has the potential...

    What RPM for cruising around?

I don't drive it often, and not concerned about fuel economy, so usually hanging around 3-4k (unless just cruising on the freeway - then 2kish). It sounds so good at 4k that I find it hard to resist. Having an engine run at 4k vs 2k will produce twice the amount of wear on some components, but...

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

Don't you think a Cayman is a better comparison than a Corvette? I haven't seen a lot of journalists complain about power to weight ratios. The Miata and BRZ/FRS often win praise for their driving dynamics and place in the top of their comparisons despite having lower power to weight than their...

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

“Antony finds the steering exaggeratedly jittery.” Maybe the up-and-coming younger generation of auto enthusiasts and writers have only experienced electronic steering, and when the road noise isn’t muted, it now feels jittery to them. I’ve driven both the mustang and the M2, and I can assure...

    Paint blistering issue update

Tons of water builds up in my doors after a good wash. I drain, and then put fans near the drain to further dry before going back into the garage. Have no idea if it’s helping , but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

3rd Cat Delete on Emira – Is the Milltek Valve Controller Really Necessary?

I went with the 3rd cat delete and no valve controller. I'm happy with the sound, especially above 4k RPM where it howls, but sometimes I wish I had additional control over the sound at a lower RPM. It seemed that many of the Milltek early adopters had problems with the valve controllers...

Today's Financial Times | Carmaker Lotus plans to end production in the UK

It's a great time to be a "journalist" and create a hit piece about a brand under financial distress and talk about all the things (in hindsight) that should have happened to prevent this. With all this business wisdom, you'd think they would be running their own car company instead of looking...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

Yeah, certainly the concern, but Burger said they would want “additional testing” to determine if that happened (specifically using 92 vs 93). In most cars the ecu would limit power slightly on lower octane to prevent knocking, but not sure if that’s the case with a tune.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I would love to see what happens on a map 3 dyno run with the lower 91 or 92 octane rating. Just a slight reduction in power, or something more dramatic with the overall power/torque curve?

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

As others have mentioend, this is not a paint blister issue. This body panel is plastic, and is not manufactured by Teijin, which is the source of the paint blistering issue. That's the good news, bad news is it looks like someone might have brushed up against you or maybe some other minor...

    New Jayemm Emira video

Same. Bunch of hyperbole in here, and Lotus is an easy target with plenty of issues. I think we all know more refined/reliable cars exist. Few offer the same thrill and excitement though, so I guess your risk tolerance (and luck) will determine your experience.

    GRP Intake Shootout Dyno Testing!

I see a lot of forum members removing the third cat and adding the GRP filter when fitting a JB4 to their car. Is this only to mirror the specific set up of the test car Burger used to develop the JB4, or because this is a more optimal set up in general? When reading the results Greg posted in...

    No side intake grilles?!

For those asking about a potential service bulletin, maybe this is just a parts rationalization / simplification move by Lotus as opposed to some specific problem where mesh is needed on the vents. The 4 cylinder always had the mesh, right? Why have two parts numbers for side grills when you...

New V6 versus Turbo 4 video

If you, "get tired of shifting during tail of the dragon" then the Emira is probably not the right car for you. First person I've heard say the 4 cylinder sounds better than the v6 too. I guess this is why we're given all these options - to each their own!

Good to know this, and I hope you're right about the strengthened drivetrain on the Emira. Though, being a good driver won't prevent the transmission from being damaged if the engine is pumping out more torque than the gearbox can handle.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

Not sure what is real or not, but my understanding was the transmission was the source of concern with a tune like this, not the motor. I think in the back of my mind I would always worry a bit on those high RPM gear changes using the 93 map.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I always thought it was odd a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder was often cited as the better performance option, and likely to have easier power gains than a 3.5 liter V6. After looking at these dyno results , maybe it's not as hard to find power gains on the V6 than was initially thought? The old adage...

Or, conversely, what if you only wanted the 91 tune to be on the safer / more conservative side, but use 93 octane fuel? Would it automatically detect and change to the more aggressive 93 tune? I saw on the burgertuning website FAQ that it can "auto tune" but unclear if that can be turned off.
