Are you washing the car with something other than hypoallergenic baby wipes, and is the last four of your VIN in the high 1000s or into the 2000s?

As owners we should not be expected to avoid rain at all costs or be extra careful when washing our cars. It will be driven outdoors… and may be parked outdoors on occasion. I’ve never had these requirements with any other car manufacturer.

I believe Nova’s two issues were caught as failures during PDI. As far as we have seen so far dealers are not preventatively repairing these issues if there’s no failure first. I’d be happy to hear otherwise.

I thought Silent Cilantro had his dealer adjust it… so as far as I understood his problem was fixed. Maybe not. The issue for a time in other threads was isolating where the sound was coming from (like you). Nobody knew where it was coming from. Now that you know what it is I’d suggest asking...

From what we’ve seen so far the parts will be replaced if there’s a failure. This has not been a preventive repair or something done on request.

I’m hoping the same, but the U.S. cars don’t have the mileage or time owned under their belts that UK cars do. If this problem still exists I don’t think paint blisters will show themselves on NA cars for 6-12 months after they’ve been delivered to owners.

Absolutely. I don’t care about having the car delivered sooner than others. I’d rather be later down the line and possibly have a better chance of being built right.

I didn’t feel Mark was enthused with the Emira at all. His prior Exige ownership probably has a negative bias for him with this car. He didn’t say much in the review imo… and that tells me a lot about how he sees the Lotus brand. When he likes a car he is much more excited about it in reviews...

I’ve never seen this product. It says it deactivates corrosion… does it dissolve rust without having to grind or sand it off? We have some rust on our railing where the powder coat was damaged that I just noticed it a few days ago. Wondering if this spray would do anything for that.

This has to be considered a safety issue when driving the car in colder temperatures, so triggering a recall will be inevitable imo. There’s no way they can just ignore it forever with the amount of cars they’ve pumped out for NA. There’s just too much liability there for them.

I think the differences between earlier cars and more recent cars not having this AC problem, or having this problem at delivery would be whether the cars were exposed to rain at anytime between production and delivery to the customer. I really do believe each and every car delivered to this...

Any sort of waterproofing measures would need all of this taken out along with the glass. Not sure if the composite door panel is glued together or not, but doing this type of thing wouldn’t be for the faint of heart.

An aerosol spray may work better for this purpose. I think whatever waterproofer you’d have to use would need to coat ALL unpainted surfaces within the door. Otherwise, it’s possible some water will evaporate, can’t find its way out as a gas, then turns back into a liquid as condensate when...

Harry from Harry’s Garage drove his Emira all over Europe in rain and mixed weather (if you’ve watched that video)… I wonder what his AC is like after being an early customer.

I’m planning on doing exactly this. The good thing is you can visibly see if the corrected part(s) have already been installed from the exterior thanks to @Tonygcar.

So, this sounds like the recent deliveries may all have this flaw and will just be a matter of WHEN the water ingress happens. If you drive a garage queen you may have an extended lifespan of these parts unless you wash your car frequently. If you have a daily driver in a mixed weather climate...

Are you an early or recent production car?

I’d like to know if and when this fix was applied at the factory… like, what date did they realize it’s better to apply a rain shield and waterproof electrical to production instead of eventually having 2000 cars recalled. Cuz… does Geely have Toyota money to be to be fixing all these cars??
