DIY: V6 Burger Motorsports JB4 Installation

I already have a dyno chart without the JB4 which was my last run. Here's the page on my project thread which shows the last dyno run with all the mods I have up to that point. https://www.emiraforum.com/threads/adding-lightness.4796/page-17 I got the all-clear from Burger that my data log...

DIY: V6 Burger Motorsports JB4 Installation

I do it more as a service to the forum. I started doing this with the Eventuri when it first came out, because people were skeptical of the claims, so I got a dyno run to show on paper what I was experiencing. I knew it was adding power and torque, but it helped to have a number to show. This...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I wish we had 93 here, but we just don't. I'm glad you noticed the smoothness too. At first I thought it was my imagination, but the engine does run smoother with the JB4 tune.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I sent my log file to Burger last night, so as soon as he returns an all-ok or an update, I'll do a quick 100 mile run-around then get a dyno run. Hopefully sometime next week if they have a slot open at the dyno shop.

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

Glad you worked out something for you. I think the OBD connection makes a difference, as I just got back from driving around an hour and a half, testing different speeds and drive modes. On map1 91 octane, the car seems to be running smoother than it does stock. Outside air temp was 89F...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

I wasn't able to drive it yesterday, but tonight I'm going to go out and record a data log, then send that to Burger. If all's well or they update the tune, I'll update and then do a hundred mile run, then take it to the dyno shop, hopefully next week if I can get a slot for a dyno run.

Put a towel on top of the Eventuri, and underneath the bracket mount location, so if you accidentally drop a bolt (or socket), you won't go through the ordeal of having to retrieve it from down in the engine bay. ALSO, VERY important... do NOT remove both of the original bracket screws at the...

Emira JB4 Tuning Now Available for I4 & V6 Cars!

The engine bay gets really hot, and that's just stock from the factory. Adding more power and performance isn't going to make it cooler. I noticed how hot it really gets when I was adding heat reflect material under the trunk, since it gets so hot in the trunk. I thought it was mostly from...

EVO: BMW M2 v Porsche Boxster GTS v Lotus Emira v Alpine A110 v Ford Mustang

I don't even think this is journalism, more like opinionism which is ridiculously subjective. It's also almost fashionable in some circles nowadays, to poopoo the Emira as being not quite up to expectations like there is such a thing. It's a better, more finished and complete sports car than...

DIY: V6 Burger Motorsports JB4 Installation

Finally got everything sorted out, and took my first drive this evening. Drove on Map0 to a Shell station, letting the car warm up to normal temp to make sure there weren't any issues or CEL's. Car is fine. Switched to Map1. I could immediately tell the difference as I left the Shell...

Well I got lucky and found the bolt. After removing the Eventuri I was able to see better. and it was sitting down in between two hoses, so I was able to retrieve it with a flexible magnet wand. I was finally able to get the bracket installed, but I'm pretty sure the socket that dropped went...

So the bracket arrives, I go to install it, and it's a real PITA to try and get the bolts threaded in to hold the bracket. It's hot, I'm sweating, so naturally the first bolt and the socket on my ratchet slip out of my hand and fall down somewhere into the hell of the engine bay. So now I'm...

Here's that same area in the picture with the white fuse box cover, but the cover is removed. You can see how much more room you have to get your hand behind the curved plastic piece, which is hiding that rubber plug.

Trying to get mine installed. I used your trick of feeding a stiff cable through the rubber grommet. I only had to pull the carpeted corner piece out, I didn't need to remove the back panel. The white panel on the right in this image, is the plastic fuse box cover. The white part is actually...

What did you do to your Emira today?

Did you reuse the old ones, or use new bolts and nuts? There IS a lock washer on them, yes? If there is and you're tightening them to spec, maybe you'll need to get race bolts and nuts that are drilled so you can safety wire them.

    Should I

That's the particulate from the initial wear-in of a brand new engine. That was in the oil before I removed the filter, which also had particulate in it. This is why you change the oil after the first few hundred miles of a new engine, so that particulate isn't circulating in the engine. I...

    Should I

I did an oil change right after the 1,000 mile break-in, and this is what came out of the engine. This is the drain pan I drained the oil into. Those flecks of metal you see aren't gold.

It's interesting that they changed the loom location for the 2025 model year. If you climb into the trunk and work from there, it's easier. You'll have to remove and reinstall the unit every time you clean the air filter.

    Fixing a flat tire

Don't track a tire with a plug. If the tire heats up too much, the plug can blow out and you're toast. Is it a front tire or rear? A plug will be fine for normal street driving, but for extended "spirited" driving I wouldn't trust it. Get the plug so you can take the car to a tire place and...

    Pricing Thoughts....

Lotus didn't really shoot themselves in the foot, they were machine-gunned by covid, supply chain issues, Brexit, inflation and things they never imagined were in their future when they originally did their forecasts for costs and production. I still think it's a great car, but it's not enough...
