Well thats a bit disappointing. I can imagine that over the years this will cause the headlight housing to have issues in terms of the inside of the plastic getting foggy and no way to fix it other than to try the oven trick to separate the cover from the housing. Found this thread because I...
I bought my car used, and unfortunately, PO drilled holes in the front bumper to mount the plate brakes. For now, I'd just like to plug them with a body colored plastic plug, it's not perfect, but certainly would be less visible than the hole itself. Want to get something close to body color...
Yeah, I bought one of these ages ago for my Focus RS. Even supported changing things and programming the body modules through Forscan. This dongle can connect to basically every CAN bus on the car. I've already used it for connecting to my Emira to scan for codes.
The included software is...
Yeah. I don’t shift by shift light. I shift by engine feel and engine sound. And the v6 pulls even harder those last 500rpm so it fools me into staying in throttle too long and I end up banging against that limiter.
I bet if you raised the limiter the engine wouldn’t nose over till around...
It’s fine if you aren’t going off the beaten path, but I’ve thought about using my plaid on one of our day trips or weekend road trips with the club and no matter how I work it I can’t find chargers near our routes. Need more chargers.
There is actually nothing wrong with that. As long as it's not connected to the driveline mechanically it's actually a pretty simple hybrid design. The Chevy Volt operates the same way most of the time (though it does couple mechanically under heavy acceleration, or above 70mph)
Let's face...
The Lotus will never be my daily Driver.
But as soon as I get the full PPF installed and get it on a different wheel/tire set so I can save the cup2s for the track then I’ll drive it on every nice day I go somewhere. And I’ll visit the circuits near me like Road America, Autobahn CC, Blackhawk...
This should be under warranty. And honestly the dealer should FIGHT to get it covered under warranty because stuff like this fits right in with the Lotus acronym meme. That’s a manufacturing or material defect.
I don’t see Emira in that at all. The P72 is gorgeous though and I’d have one if I could. Like I’d have a Brabham BT62.
Besides. The P72 premiered at 2019’s Goodwood. A full 2 years before we saw the Emira. So if anything the Emira copies it.
The P72 is supposed to look like a 60s era LeMans...
There are other means to increasing boost if you have variable intake/exhaust cam phasing open to you. The net effect is increased cylinder pressures and an increase in the measured boost in the manifold. Not sure what parameters are open to JB4 to modify.
Engine timing can affect boost, as...
Took the car for a Sunday Drive. Just the fun parts. Didn't have a a ton of time, so I just used the local roads, not too many of them are twisty, I live in flatland America.
I wanted the v6. But I'm not stupid. I always KNEW the AMGI4/DCT combo would be the better powertrain from a performance aspect. One, turbo makes a much fatter torque curve. The DCT makes WAY better use of the power available and has 2 more gears of advantage in acceleration.
If you look at...
More to do with the 8spd DCT shifting in 1/10th the time and much better acceleration due to gearing advantage.
A V6/DCT vs I4/DCT would be very interesting. Too bad that combo doesn’t exist.
Proven fact. Turbo cars feel faster because they tend to produce fat torque curves. They usually have more average torque.
The Emira using a roots blower has it’s boost tied directly to its engine RPM. The supercharger will move a set volume of air mass per revolution. And that is mechanically...
I’ve already decided that I will likely replace my Trans Am with one of two cars. Either a 2006 Pontiac GTO manual six speed so that I can still have a Pontiac in the garage or I will find a lightly used sixth generation ZL1 1LE 6spd so I can keep an F-Body in the garage.
For a while, I gave...
An older cold start video shortly after I moved into the house. You can barely tell when the Focus RS is running. You'd have to be deaf to not hear me start the TransAm.
I need to record a new video with the Lotus in the mix.
And a trip home in the GTA when I used to drive it to work...
Sup all, I'm a long time GM/Ford guy. Owned a very small collection of cars as I don't trade in much and tend to drive my stuff for a long time.
TLDR, new guy from Chicago. Need to get full PPF on the car, then plan to track the crap out of it at Road America, Autobahn CC, and Road Trip it...
