Yeah, that weird. In my head I thought they just removed the valve completely and had the controller just working 'in air' so that the car thinks the controller is still doing it job but is in fact controlling nothing. Then the new exhaust is valve less. I guess I was completely wrong! haha
Yeah I just want to know what is the usage and practical difference between this setup vs something like the milltek controller. And if there are any advantage/disadvantage.
There are definitely non-valved mufflerless pipes for the emira i4, and i think milltek controller would work there for the valve motor just mounted somewhere.

Curious what that would sound like (other than being loud).
This technically wouldn't sound any different from our current aftermarket exhaust offerings when the valve is set to open, since the open position routes exactly like this, basically all of them.
You can also do that too if you have no use of the close valve application.
There is a difference, just subtle, but mostly depend on how well the cat-back exhaust was designed.
The stock exhaust is actually pretty good except with two problems. One is that the area before the valve has a leak so when you are on open valve mode not all exhaust flame will exit through the straight pipe but some enter into the muffler can. Second is the tube ends where they meet with the tips are not fully inserted into the tips so some of the sound exits at the bottom of the car rather than from the back of the car. These are some of the details you should look for on an aftermarket exhaust.

Does the new BOOMGEAR exhaust solve those issues?
On top of my head, the new Boomgear SS exhaust for i4 (V5, I believe) has the following benefit:
1) Reduce weight
2) Larger diameter for better flow
3) Fully heat-shielded
4) OEM valve relocation
5) Much better sound/tone than a Ti exhaust (ask @TFS, he ride with me yesterday)
6) OEM style muffler but thinner and narrower (better acoustic balance and quiet when in close-valve mode)
7) Straight pipe performance when in open-valve mode
8) End tubes are fully inserted into the OEM tips for maximum output through the back of the car
