Earnings call this morning points to Hethel remaining as an engineering / design / marketing / very low production situation. They are Euro 7 exempt until 2030. They also said an updated V6 model will enter in 2027 with facelift as well as plug in hybrid tech. I think Hethel will be expected to build around 1k sports cars per year going forward and expect in 2027 for the price to jump significantly. Finally the Emira Cup with 430BHP and a lot of carbon coming?
The type-135 electric sports cars was meant to be released in 2027 - maybe this is Vision-X. That's meant to be the successor to the Elise rather than a Artura/296 competitor. Maybe would be hybrid now rather than all electric. I would also suspect this would be built in China....And then we have also a new model, internal project code, we call it Vision X. That project, we are foreseeing to launch into the market in 2027.
Wonder what Vision X will be - sounds like a hybrid competitor to Artura, 296, etc.

Emira production is due to restart next week. A source at Hethel says they have a year's worth of Emira orders. No idea what that translates to in terms of numbers of cars!I'm also very curious. All the recent redundancies at Hethel suggest that at the very least they must be severely scaling back Emira production if not planning to halt it altogether. Who knows, maybe the $300m is to move production elsewhere? I suspect that kind of money wouldn't go very far when it comes to developing new models.
Lotus seemed to omit any reference to the 4cyl Turbo and that has lead everyone to believe its on the way out. The other view point could be, they didnt mention it, because nothing is changing for it. I can but hopeAutocar released their take on the call in this article today. Their impressions parallel what’s already been stated but with this interesting takeaway that no one seems to have mentioned yet: “The current four-cylinder Emira Turbo, which uses a Mercedes-AMG petrol engine, appears to on the chopping block amid the EU7 makeover.”

These i4 can easily be up-tuned to beast. There is no reason for the them to stop i4. But maybe Benz charges more for these i4 engines and they are not very profitable for Lotus.Lotus seemed to omit any reference to the 4cyl Turbo and that has lead everyone to believe its on the way out. Ouch.Yeah cos Geely will listen to a bunch of car nuts wanting to keep a tradition alive, rather than make financial decisions
As in hydrogen power?"It will have the strong embedded Lotus DNA"
My guess is some form of water ingress.
However it IS possible to miscalcuate a decision based purely on financials while completely ignoring your most loyal fan base (and potential future customers). Prime case in point in the news today as I'm sure we've all seen.Yeah cos Geely will listen to a bunch of car nuts wanting to keep a tradition alive, rather than make financial decisions
That would be interesting! As in hydrogen power?
Wouldn’t it (the i4) be a good starting point for the hybrid version?Lotus seemed to omit any reference to the 4cyl Turbo and that has lead everyone to believe its on the way out. The other view point could be, they didnt mention it, because nothing is changing for it. I can but hope
