Things have moved very quickly over the last few days so I thought its time to start an ownership journal.

Having been watching kind of on the sidelines the launch of the Emira, it wasn't until I saw it in the flesh outside Bell & Colvill in April this year that I decided to take the plunge. I was late to the party but was prepared to wait potentially until the end of 2024 for delivery. Having previously owned a couple of hot Mercs I had put in the reservation for the i4 initially. But having seen more videos, mainly on here, I was starting to waver.

Then Thursday last week I get a call out of the blue from Lotus HQ. They had apparently over ordered demonstrators and had a stock of V6's that could be available within 2 weeks. Despite LotusCC saying they might be gone by the Monday I told them I wanted to wait for the launch of the i4 at Goodwood. Having taken in all the footage I could of Goodwood I decided that if Lotus had something vaguely similar to my spec in a V6 I would go ahead.

Speaking with Lotus today they had a spec I liked AND they were selling it for the original launch price of 78K (pre tax), 10k less than the new pricing.

So, within the next two weeks I'll be taking delivery of my new Magma Red V6 Emira!

That’s awesome. Just under $16k cheaper than what I’m being hit with for the FE 2.0

Starting to consider alternative options now that I have to make a decision. Might push mine out for a base and just watch the used market once the first batch reaches the states

I completely agree, it was sales speak for sure. Only too happy to take a cancelled order for the original price though

Great spec. My second choice behind DV is Vivid with almost the same spec as yours. Are you getting an Auto as shown in your pics?

I am yes. Auto suits my usage better and also means the wife can just hope in it and go (if it’s absolutely needed!!)

So it's check out day! However, after confirming my details, agreeing to all the t&c's and clicking checkout I'm met with:

THIS VEHICLE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE

It looks like this vehicle has been sold. You can return to your retailer's website to look for something similar.

And of course the online chat is not open! I'm now listening to the piano music looping over and over on LotusCC telephone.

They don't open until 10:00am for chat or phones....

It says 9am on the website. Anyway got through to them on the phone and its been referred to another team somewhere else. No resolution in sight.

Website is currently "broken" (it thinks I'm in South Africa and Emira section has disappeared) and was never that accurate but it says 10:00 - 17:00 in "My Lotus" - fingers crossed they get things sorted for you.....

Lotus CC said they had solved it but discovered while I was on the phone with them that checkout was still not working. 5 hours have passed and its radio silence. I'm now getting worried that they have sold it to someone else and that I will have lost my original reservation.

Pi$$ up and brewery come to mind.

I hope you got it sorted. I've had "a few" problems with Lotus Customer "Care" recently. They're clearly under pressure for some reason. I would have thought that they would have settled into a rhythm by now, but hey ho.

I guess now we know the reason... 😕

I have been assured by Lotus CC that checkout has finally worked, although you wouldn't know it from My Lotus where it continues to say "Checkout Status Not Started".

However, I now have conflicting information on the next stage of the process from Lotus CC and Lotus Surrey. I get the impression the "agents" are as equally frustrated by the purchase process as I am. You would of thought that by this stage everyone would know how it works! It's easily the most painful new car purchase I've been through.

Interestingly Lotus CC referred to the car as "orphaned".

Good news! My Emira has arrived with Bell & Colvill who want to do handover by the end of the week following their own inspection. However, I have no final invoice from Lotus HQ and no idea what the registration is to sort the insurance out.

Its crazy that Lotus are delivering cars to agents without final payments being made.

I’m not sure that’s true.
I think if there was a delay in getting the car to the dealer after payment to be made, then you would be complaining more. At least this way you have things in your own control, and as soon as you have been able to transfer the money you can go and collect it.

I see your point, but they should be issuing the invoice as soon as it leaves Hethel. It seems, having spoken to Lotus CC, that no one is aware that handover is planned for Friday or that the final invoice hasn't been sent out.

I was very fortunate to get a cancelled order and took delivery in early March with my order not due to be built until H2 24. It all happened very quickly and in my case, the dealer had been allocated a few "orphaned" vehicles, one of which was a very similar spec to my order so I agreed to purchase at very short notice! I had some issues with invoice, payment, and the registration number was notified late in the process, but all went well at the end of the day. The local dealer was brilliant in troubleshooting and even allowed me to take delivery over a bank holiday weekend as the payment issue took a couple of days to resolve and delayed collection!

All frustrating at the time but well worth it - the car is brilliant, and I avoided the June price increase. I hope you are equally happy when you get yours!

I take this as a big win and maybe a bit of reparation for the delivery process. Am I jealous? Absolutely!
