The first morning frosts and risk of snow start next week in the UK.

Typically in the past I've put nice cars away for the Winter. When I inevitably do sell them (I naively believe at the time every new car I buy is a 'keeper') I always regret not having used them more.

So starting this week I'm going to daily the Emira through Winter. There's no reason I can see why not. Comfy interior, heated seats, dimming mirrors, nice infotainment, fantastic LED headlights, essentially all your dark and cold weather creature comforts..). At the end of the day this is not an Elise, it's a Cayman competitor and it's meant for this. Plus I'm still in warranty and some daily mileage will hopefully shake out any issues.

I'll update with any issues I experience.

I'll be driving mine through the winter too - when I get it back that is. The fibreglass and aluminium construction means it fares better in wet conditions than the normal steel car body.

Mine is kept in the garage but I do use it over the winter.
Last November when I went on a factory tour it was frosty in the morning and was snowing when we left the factory.

We must be related, but for the Emira it's going to be different ;)

I'm going to take it for a drive whenever the weather allows - thinking about getting an extra set of wheels with all seasons or maybe even snow tires. Although I recall once upon a time taking my Elise for a drive in the snow - the flat underbody would just sit on top of lightly packed snow, and that was that.

I haven't had the car at home since April (garage construction), but might have it back within a month or two. The year prior, I drove it every winter day that I could when the roads weren't salty. Goodyear tires, took it easy, enjoyed every drive. Typically 25-45 degrees F on those days and my garage isn't heated.

I've had other cars that really lose bushing performance in the cold (increased NVH) but it's really amazing how well this car still absorbs NVH even during winter. Sport suspension, typically 36F/38R tire pressures.

I use mine as a daily through winter. Had no issues with it last year. As you described - it has the comforts to make it a pleasant experience and it's supposed to work all year.

I run the Goodyears and they were fine in the cold, always got the option to fit winter tires if needed.

Heck yeah man! Life’s too short to not use it during the winter. Here in NJ it’s a wild winter. The only time I don’t drive is when it snows heavy as the car physically will get stuck lol. All other times I’m out there and make more of an effort to clean the car, especially underneath when salt is thrown on the ground

Snows are on! Ready for winter. I drove mine last winter as well. I just avoid heavy snow days, dont want to get stuck. But on cold crisp days, it’s perfect with good set of winters. Enjoy!
