wheels forum so quiet... OK I ordered a set of forged rims.

To be fair there are plenty of countries that are very strict about modifications. Australia doesn’t allow engine modifications as far as I understand it, even though lots of people do modify their cars.

Agreed, it is a pretty ridiculous rule regards changing the wheels, but in reality nobody really cares IME. My car is running wheels 2” bigger than standard for the last 10 years, never even had a comment after several inspections. It’s not a legal matter, they might just make you put it back to standard.
Any new car has a six years non-inspection waiver. If you get caught upsizing your wheel, you just lost the waiver and need to be inspected at the DMV every year. Its funny how westerners making jokes about Chinese govt sending ppl to jail when the US has the highest incarceration stat.

I think we (in Europe) do make a little bit of fun about the US having high numbers of people in prison - not that the UK has a great record here either.
I don't think we make fun of the reasons many people are in prison in China though but rather are concerned about this - not wanting to get political on a car forum but these are very different matters.

Why concern if I may ask?

Have you considered Vitour P1? I think that will be my next set. For going 19's you can have the tire spec re-engraved with a 20's spec on the wheel wall should a cop feels the need to inspect it.
I've tried the P1's this year with the wheels I use for the track in a 370Z for time trials. They are surprisingly good.

As I say I'm not getting into politics on a car forum. But in the west a simple web search about "political prisoners" would provide web sites from all over the world (not just from the UK) that would answer your question, it's not something we really make jokes about. I'll draw a line under this topic now though, this is not the place.
