Time to buy

You mean someone who's been lucky?
Simon. I’m sorry that you had a hard time with your car. But that’s the case for at least 20 other owner I personally know here down under. I guess I’d trash the shit out of the brand and try put anyone off buying one if I’ve experience the same. So I do get it.

I don’t want to trash the brand. Just sold my car earlier this week. I miss it already. 3k for me. No issues. My doors were fine but I suspect that’s because it’s lived a garaged
Life and seen no rain.
It was fear of the brand falling over and the warranty expiring at the end of this year that prompted something of an unwanted sale. Car went to the trade and the dealer was keen to buy it.
I’m more than disappointed Lotus couldn’t offer me an extended warranty like Porsche do. It would be revenue for their dealers. Bell and Colvill are local but they are very busy. I note they have stopped selling new Lotus cars which is disturbing in and of itself.
Assuming the brand can demonstrate that it’s not going anywhere I will buy another Emira. Wonderful cars.

That said- the price proximity to a new 911 makes them a tough sell new. At £60k you are buying a 911 a decade old as opposed to a 2 year old Emira

Bell & Colvill stopped out of protest at the direct sales Lotus iniated. They have also set up a warranty via a 3rd party, not as good as the equivalent Porsche one by any means but.... Lotus will be offering a warranty via Car Care Plan soon.

Interesting but none of these 3rd party companies seem to offer anything like the bumper to bumper Porsche warranty. I want to know that paint issue is covered all the while I own the car as well. They full well know there is an issue and should be offering a recall.

Received this week, I’m not interested just curious as to what my personal Lotus upgrade opportunity looks like….

If Lotus do go bump and stop making cars (which I don't think will happen), why would getting parts and service (in the UK) be so difficult? How many parts are totally unique to the Emira?

OK, warranty would disappear and so the paint issues (which I've yet to experience) would be a worry but the work could be done.

Just like the car tooo much to sell it just in case Lotus go bust!

Interesting that everyone is referencing Porsche re price. I always liked the idea of having an Audi TT right from when they were launched. Read that the TT was being discontinued and so thought I'd better look to buy one. By the time I'd configured a TT RS with all the bits you need in a decent colour and with a premium sound system I was well north of £110k. Made the decision to go Lotus an easy one tbh.

I've had mine for over 2y and 12k miles off trouble free fabulous driving, except for the known issue of the bubbling paint on the composite doors. Replaced nicely and efficiently by the dealer without a hitch. One of the most enjoyable cars to drive I've ever owned, and I've had a few 😁 A lot are low milage as many people don't really drive them and have other cars for their daily ride 🤷🏼

I’ve noticed allot of cars have only 3k miles and two owners is that because the car is a nightmare ? I’ve not seen it before.
Also £59k 2023 6k miles second hand now much more to drop could happen on the v6 manual ?
Is there a place I can buy more directly from enthusiasts and save some more money ?
Chris, I have recently owned a Porsche 911 992.1 Targa (21) plate and a (22) plate 718 GT4 both superb and didn’t loss that much on either but I was out in my beautiful GT4 and a Lotus Emira went past in the opposite direction and the looks just stopped me dead in my tracks, I’ve now bought one and well it’s a Lotus, it’s brand history speaks for itself, without Lotus there would be no F1, the brand won’t die, it might be bought over and if so I would love to think BMW or Mercedes would take such a brand and make it an even stronger one however the Emira, first edition in the dark Verdent green with Yellow racing stripes over, it stands out from the crowd by a country mile! Not even Ferrari looks as pretty and it’s as the brand suggests “For the Drivers” it’s not tame and it’s not for wimps, it’s also not for Lefties or the soft environmental protestors, it’s just fkn loud and beautiful and light and handles well like a Lotus, let’s face it, what can you buy for sixty grand? You could get hit by a number nine bus tomorrow and have never owned a Lotus! Well mate you just haven’t lived!

Bought mine at 2 yrs old with 4800 on the clock for just under £60k. The reason the secondhand values dived to this level is that once the initial demand reduced, mostly because the price increased rapidly, and people cancelled orders, but Lotus continued to produce a lot of cars and the price approached 911 territory. Plus the recall issues. So no-one buys new in the UK now but the used market at £60-£65k is slowly improving. The issues are known and although regrettable are being fixed. Still a great car for £60k, but it’s not in 911 territory.
