Spinning Engine Noise / Idle Noise

I’ve had my manual V6 emira for just over 2 weeks now, it’s a 2023 plate with 11k miles on the clock.

After washing the car at the weekend I’ve noticed what sounds like a spinning noise coming from the engine under acceleration/driving, the sound goes away when the clutch is pressed in also.

It also sounds like there is abit of a noise when the car is idling also, in addition to this I’ve had a check engine light come on tonight which has made me more worried etc.

I’m not sure if this is related to the supercharge or not, and as ‘normal’ noises for this engine as I’ve never had a supercharged car or Lotus before.

I’ve attached a few videos of both the car driving with the noise and the car idling, could anyone offer some advice please?

My engine sounds like that on idle. Got it booked in to be checked.

My car (3/23, V6, 13k miles) has just started doing this. Did you folks get any updates?

Mine sounds similar and they replaced supercharger but not much different.

I thought it might just be the belt or something. Really weird that it just started happening with no real trigger.

I went to Lotus and listened to the others there, they all sound the same, some a bit louder than others. Its more just the induction noise, no spinning sound thats cleared with clutch press.

Mine's booked in for next week, so will keep you updated on what they find. I reckon it's a belt/pulley/tensioner issue, so hopefully a quick enough fix.

I had this sound but it was "fixed" after an oil change. but it was mostly at cold start and below 2k rpm. I mentioned to a dealership but after i did the oil change i couldn't hear it

It is due a service based on time (12 months since last) but not miles. It was serviced at 6k miles when I bought it and has 13k on it at the moment. That being said mine persits after start - this clip was taken after the car had been driven for about 45-50mins.

check oil levels and get it changed then see if its still there. I also switched to 0w-40 but will try stock oil again to see if its back

I have a similar noise which sounds like an intermittent whistle when under power. I have had the car from new and the noise has appeared recently. Just had second service and reported the noise for investigation. No solution identified and just told it was a normal engine noise! It is annoying so may take it back for a second attempt to solve it or perhaps go to a different Lotus service centre for a second opinion
