Today I removed both knobs on my 2021 Elise and the Emira(Very easy)
I used metal polish paste and rubbed over the letters left and right and up and down very firm for about 5 minutes, dosen't affect the anodising and now my knobs are as smooth as a baby's bottom.
No more chafed skin dropping into the leather gator.

Great idea! But how can that not affect anodising? I would have thought that polishing would at a minimum have increased the level of sheen?

Yes its always been like that,I only polished the letters not the whole thing.
My Elise is more matt finish and didn't go shinny.
I've noticed at the dealership some have a semi gloss and others dull.
If you take yours off and try a bit underneath I'm sure it won't go shinny.

My sandpaper hands are tougher than the gear knob itself. After a week, I noticed metal filings at the base of the leather gater. Now it’s all nice and smooth.
