Midlife CARisis did decent series on his McLaren 650S that I enjoyed. Now he has just bought an Emira.

recommend the third cat delete and the valve controller. the car doesn't sound like it "needs an exhaust" after those two simple mods.

the short-shifter kit is causing the issues with finding neutral and also the weird "leaned back" placement of the gears that the second driver mentioned. the gear positions with the oem shifter setup are not leaning back like that where it looks like neutral is 4th and so-on.

You can adjust the short shifter to fix that or you can just remove it -- short shifters can increase the odds of money shifts on the track when shifting under cornering forces in my opinion.

I will be placing some orders tonight, thank you for all the guidance and the direction on the removal of the short shifter, I am very interested in pulling that out. Will I be missing an OEM components, or is a short shifter just an add-on part?

Is the cat3 delete just about making the Emira louder or is that a noticeable perf improvement? (I appear to be the only one who think it's plenty loud).

it is an add-on part. it can be adjusted to fix that offset, if you'd rather go that route. there's some threads here about it. it can be a bit of a bear. i don't think the car needs it, it shifts fine with the stock set up.

also, i should have mentioned -- if the car is hesitant to engage 1st unless you first engage 2nd, the shifter alignment needs adjusting. there's a great thread on that. I did it myself, took about 15minutes, mostly being overly careful not to break any tabs or clips on interior parts. All gears go in super easily now, even 1st while moving, which was hard before correcting the alignment.

I don't think it helps with performance, but it sounds a lot better. Same with the valve controller -- fully open valve sounds match the car's looks.

However, the Eventuri Intake does add performance, so that's another mod to consider @midlifecarisis.

Depending on which short shift kit is installed you are likely missing the OEM part. An adjustment to the cables may correct the issue you are having. Also, there may be multiple settings on the short shift kit. You would want to investigate that also. If you can provide a picture of the part at the linkage someone here may be able to determine which brand of SSK you have. Typically, the short shift kit is a big improvement.

Welcome to the club, nice car you have there, I hope you enjoy it as much as you did the 650S. Also, glad to hear that you intend to keep the Emira for some time to really get to know it. Be careful, its addictive - I've had my Elise for over 25 years now.

If not doing a full upgrade on the intake, I would add a GRP air filter to your list, makes the supercharger sound better!
