The spare key is gone and now the main key has locked itself inside the car. Any helpful thoughts?
The UK lotus office has been notified but not yet offered a solution. Have not had a car that would lock with the key inside before this...

A skilled locksmith could still get into the car via the key slot behind the driver door handle?

Since you lost the spare you might want the dealer to at least cut/get you a new emergency blade that is stored in fob itself (for future use too). Not sure if they can cut just the blade part but worth an ask.
Since youre down to one fob you might want to remove the emerg blade from that fob and keep separate (or copy it) if you do manage to get it open thru other means.
I wonder if the emerg fob blades are identical between Emiras. Worth a shot to borrow one from the dealer or another owner if close to try.

When I bought my car from Auto100(Yes I was one of those) it only came with one key. The only way to get a 2nd key was for it to be bought via a dealer and they had to send off to Hethel to get it. The Fob itself was about £150, if I wanted the blade it was another £180 !!!
I went with just the fob and thought I could source the blade elsewhere, thinking it would be a Geely bucket blade. Turns out no one has a clue which other manufacturer the blades come from, so I may have to bite the bullet and order from Lotus

added feature??? perhaps a unique happening, dont think the car comes with auto lock but definitely will keep in mind as a good lesson to not leave keys in the car.

...nothing surprises me now with this car, I thought my Alfa 4C was quirky but nothing compared to the Emira - mental note never leave keys in car, thank you for sharing hope you get in easily

This is going to sound crazy, but hear me out... is a new window cheaper than a locksmith or a new key? 🤔

Probably only an option if you can garage it of course. :)

if a window is cheaper than a locksmith please let us see how strong the window is (record it)

That is not a cheaper option

Thanks--it's a bit quirky.

UPDATE: AAA (US) came and it took an hour but managed to insert a slider in by separating window with air pump. Door opened, key fob obtained with next issue: the car is not responding to the key fob (will obviously replace fob battery to see if that's the problem) so car won't start. Trying to figure out where the electronic fob activator is in the car. Some info says door handle (no), rear cup holder (no). Back to quirky-town but very happy to have the key out of the car....thanks guys.

My car doesn't auto lock. I would like that feature.
I think it’s an option in the settings menu I believe. Also, I could have sworn that if you open your drivers door after you unlock the car, this will force the auto lock option off. I learned this because when you only open up the trunk (without opening up the doors) the alarm will very loudly start going off after a minute or 2.

Isn't it in the bottom of the center console storage compartment? Place the fob there?

Some cars you use the fob to depress the start button when the fob battery is dead.
