Just for fun. If you sold your EMIRA and bought another vehicle what would it be? (Around the same price or less than the EMIRA)

Wow I didn't expect the McLaren crowd to respond here, but very good to hear from you guys. I have always told people my Lotus is a gateway car to the McLaren. Of course McLarens have their share of haters (rightfully and wrongfully so), but I see way more positives than negatives. Price wise it is also very interesting to see the Artura's coming in below the $200k mark, so as much as they are loved/hated as well it is hard to not consider given you can get a 5 year warranty.

So my list is either a 570S, 600LT, or Artura just depending on what example I can find that ticks all my boxes and budget.
Arturas are down in the ÂŁ130k bracket now here in the UK. Even looks like an Emira in side profile. I did briefly consider one, but wanted a spider and they are too new for prices to have dropped yet.
I think McLaren owners need to have a similar approach to Lotus owners in regard to certain reliability quirks. The joys of owning a car from a small volume British manufacturer :ROFLMAO:

That is a lot of car for the money. People are scared off by the hybrid aspect I think as EVs tend to have horrible resale in most cases.

People are also scared off that the first year of Artura was absolutely plagued with reliability issues. I would not get a pre 2024 Artura, even if it was a coupe. A 2024 Artura coupe even drives differently than a 2023.

Great lease deals on a 2023 though…

The Emira is being replaced with a 1 owner 2018 Mercedes AMG GT C (4.0 V8 twin turbo 560hp). 4000 miles, full details history and looks like new.
Out of my price range new but the price of a new Emira now. It isn't the stunning looker of the Emira but it has so much optioned by it's owner.
Rear wheel steering
GTR gearing
Race mode
Active aero and cooling vents
Carbon ceramic brakes
Electronic diff
Active ride control suspension

I'm a Mercedes fan (currently own a 2016 E550; purchased new) but all of my "car nut friends" warned me about the AMG maintenance costs and pointed to that as a reason they don't hold their value. Those costs may become an issue with more mileage. Hopefully not for you, if you plan on keeping it for a long time. Finally, I'm a DIY car person so frequent the Mercedes chat rooms, which you might find to be a handy reference, if any issues arise. Good luck and enjoy the ride!

I've still got my 2008 Pontiac Solstice and still love it. I'll probably sell at the end of summer when my kid goes to college and we don't need the extra car, but I will certainly miss it. If I had an extra garage bay I might keep it, but alas... Anyone in South Florida that's interested give a shout.

I feel like I would get ride of the Emira for Exige Cup 430. Emira can never achieve this type of lightness without stripping it completely and even then idk.

I ran across a video of one and man do I want one lol.

I did think the same, along with a S1 Exige, but then I tried to get in one...

The extra size of the Emira does have it benefits from a useability perspective. I tihnk if you went all out, you could get the Emira weight down a couple of hundred kgs

Well I can only see the Emira leaving my garage for two reasons. I can no longer get in and out of it or I need the cash. And the Tuscan would be ahead on both those criteria.

Other cars I have desires upon/keep looking at?

TVR Sagaris heads the list.
Noble
Ariel Atom
Old British sports car like an Austin Healey
Audi R8

Am selling my Emira. (And another car, which is why this bumps up out of the 100k range)

The current shopping list after the Emira goes away:
Ferrari 296 w/asetto fiorano pack - appreciate that it's smaller than the previous generation
Mclaren 750s - fully capable street and track car w/warranty
Mclaren 765LT - the most capable car on the list, but out of warranty
Porsche GT3 manual - If I really need a manual, this or nothing.

Ironically, I think the Emira looks as good, if not better than the above... just the quality has not been there for me.

I would so Porsche GT3 out of that list.

If I had to stay in same budget right now new would be M3 xDrive comp. I know but I have a growing family and it’s very tempting. Or wait for the M2 xDrive coming out probably late 2026.
