I just installed the exhaust valve controller, and after one drive CEL came on. My obd scanner thingy isn't working so I couldn't read the codes, but while I wait for a new one, just curious if anybody else had this issue? GRP said it's probably a coincidence, and he's forgotten more about these cars than I'll ever know, but wanted see if I'm the only one...

I4. The external miltek plug and play one.

The controller works so I don't think it's unconnected, but I'm gonna have to check it and see what the issue is. My OBD scanner wasn't working, so had to order a new one to see what the code is... maybe it is just a coincidence.

Any updates on your situation? Curious to know what the issue may have been.

Still working on it actually. I took it to the dealer to see if indeed it was something else, but they got three codes for exhaust controller. So GRP said it must be a defective controller, although it works fine. I need to take it off and then take it back to the dealer to confirm no more codes. Kind of annoying so also hoping it just will go away on its own 😂

Hi, I want to change the exhaust sound of my Lotus Emira i4 with 360 horsepower.
I would like to hear the sound of the Miltek controller.
Or if someone can recommend me a homologated exhaust. Thanks.

The Milltek controller does change the sound. All it does is open the valves fully so it sounds like it does in Track mode but all the time. So instead of having it in sport or track mode and doing 4 or 5 thousand revs in Second Gear everywhere in towns etc. You can leave it in Tour and get a better sound at lower revs. To get a much better sound you need to fit a sport cat or similar for Aerie or GRP etc.

Did you find out what the issue was and has it been resolved?
I was told by Greg to use heat wrap so I don’t have any issues again when I reinstall everything

To really have any decent exhaust note for an i4, the most significant upgrade part is the downpipe. Different manufacturers have totally different output, we have tried more than a dozen downpipes and even HJS is no match to Mach5 that majority of Chinese owners are using; 200 cats, no cel. Combined with a value controller it is the most cost-effective way for decent sound. To avoid any overheat problem it is recommend to use the newest generation of value controller that is OBD controlled and move the value motor to a cooler location. If that is not enough for you, adding a SS or Ti muffler system will be about 20% louder and redirected the sound exit from the rear instead to the side from our OE muffler. From what I prefer, I like the sound of a SS exhaust much better that a Ti exhaust as it gives that very deep note that it does not sound like a 4 cylinders engine anymore. If you do track, it is highly recommended you heat shield the whole exhaust system or else your value motor will likely be melted.

Btw, China has one of the strictest smog regulation in the world so most of you will sound even louder than mine above and more drama. We do not even have burbles and crackles from OE.

Thank you
