i4 exhaust success from generic Alibaba

Appreciate the insight on this. I only did the exhaust and that's how I knew about the V clamp on the bottom. However, I know a few people have struggled with the DIY for the hi-flow downpipes that are available. So this should help a lot of folks.

Now your next mission, let us know if or how you solve for any CELs. Size spacer, mini cat attachment, etc?
I’m expecting the with Mach5 down pipe to not have CEL, we shall see after receive my 3” muffler clamp today from Amazon

This will be interesting given every other high-flow downpipe manufacturer has yielded multiple CELs. If it works, Mach5 should see a spike in sales in North America.

That's cool that there are no CELs on the Mach5. But I fixed my CEL on the GRP High Flow Catted Downpipe with a $10 O2 spacer from eBay. So it's an easy fix that not worth worrying about.

Not confirmed yet. Milik's car is likely the first US market car to try the Mach5 downpipe out. All others have needed spacers, minicats, etc. and they all still haven't been perfectly solved.

Also, the US Market cars seem to be a bit more complex. Simple spacers off Ebay haven't worked 100%. So, yet another reason why this one will be interesting.

Finished the install and took it for a short spin, happy to report no CEL. The Mach 5 valve controller also seems to be working well and throwing no codes. It relocates the factory controller and uses it as a simulation for what the mach5 exhaust controller should do

As for the sound of the mach5 stainless steel exhaust. It’s a little too loud for my taste. It sounds like the piped in amg sound (I have the amg sound disabled) but it’s actually the exhaust sound now.

Let me point out a few facts so everyone can get a better picture. This is nothing new, many Chinese exhaust manufacturers have been using this method (a layer of special mineral inside the exhaust to bypass CEL warning) for their headers and downpipes for many years. So when someone on this forum said a downpipe is just a downpipe why would it be any different I just chuckled. This method is mainly used when ECU flash is not available or the owner just dun want to mess with flash tuning during warranty period. Again this is ONLY a temporary solution because eventually this layer of special mineral will all be burnt off one day and no longer being able to fool the sensors. How long it will last depends on how hard you driven the car. I have seen someone who tracks a lot and got it done in a little over two years but also for someone that last for more than five years and still counting. So at the end of day I just wanna make sure you get all the info before you jump the wagon and in a few years you come back and say this is a China trash and blah blah blah just because you dun do your own research…

No CEL from downpipe, but CEL from valve controller 😭 P13C2, P246B, P1439.

Verified visually that the valve was not opening and closing anymore using the remote. I had a plastic burning smell, I seem to have burned my wires with my routing of the cable. I will contact Mach5 on how I should route the cable. They have the wires routed to the trunk but I couldn’t find any good way to keep the cables safe from the exhaust heat…

Did Mach5 give you an OBD valve controller or the old kind?

Mine was routed to the inner gap of the diffuser then through the left side rear wheel arch and into the cabin. The wire was also heat shielded.

How much driving and how hard to you do for this to happen?
I've got the GRP Titanium exhaust and Downpipe, and so far no heat/burning cable issues at all.

Drove maybe 8 miles. I thought it was cable melting since while I was driving and stopped at stop lights, I could smell a strong plastic burning smell. I came home, took out the mach5 valve controller and inspected the cables to see if anything melted. Didn’t find anything. After thanksgiving holidays I will need to refit the OEM valve controller to the exhaust but the way mach5 has orientated the exhaust valve leaves the OEM cable short to plug in. I will see if I can get some more slack after the holidays. In the meantime, I’ve been in contact with mach5 with my observations and I don’t seem to be able to clear my CEL with the BlueDriver app, keeps saying the vehicle wouldn’t allow it to clear the codes.

Get the Milltek controller.
The smell must just be the fresh exhaust and downpipe.

Not milltek v1 tho, that also burns / melts.

And no dumb ct rear diffuser which also melts burns stuff.

Perils everywhere

What actually is the issue with the V1 version? I've got V1 (the V2 came out about a week or so after I purchase the V1) but it seems to be fine. I have it installed as far to the LHS of the car that I could which seems to be out of the exhaust heat area. Or so the wires just melt?

I have a v2, but @Tracked Emira and others have had melting issues w v1.

I really am not best positioned to comment.

Hi @Milk242 was a mid pipe (pipe linking the cat to the main exhaust) included with the Mach5 exhaust you purchased? Wasn’t included in mine.

Nope, but I did inform them they should supply a clamp due to the stock clamp is spot welded onto the stock muffler
