Order placed on 14 Feb as a Valentines gift to myself 🙃. Unfortunately I have changed my mind and no longer required.

Just arrived today (20 Feb). In it’s original package untouched (see photo).

Komotec saids the pipe is now out of stock for another 3 weeks so if anyone is looking for it I am happy to courier over to you immediately.

There were discussions about this on another thread. Technically speaking, as it does not affect the ECU and any functioning of the car, it shall not affect the warranty of untouched parts.

Anything that affects the running state of the engine can affect the engine warranty. I've seen failed engines denied warranty coverage (by another brand) for far less than this.

Lotus literally sent out a TSB in 2020 warning of warranty refusal for the use of an aftermarket air filter. I can't imagine them turning a blind eye to the removal of emissions equipment.

But if the engine problem is due to a MAF sensor that’s malfunctioning because it’s covered in excess oil from an over-oiled aftermarket filter, is it so ridiculous?

If it's attached to the engine and you change it, expect any manufacturer to use it to back out of a warranty claim, no matter how unrelated it might be.

Of course if you put a decat onnand your suspension fell off, then that's different.

There are people who will put a "washable" K&N filter on their car, and then 6 months later when they do the refresh, manage to so profoundly misunderstand the washing instructions provided by K&N that they literally saturate the filter with dripping oil. And then install it, fully wet and oozing oil, into the airbox of their car.

This is not hypothetical, I have seen multiple examples of this exact situation when I was the service director of a dealership. Really, anything that you can imagine that seems *obviously the wrong way to do a thing* to a knowledgeable person, can and will be done in earnest by an enthusiastic but ignorant owner.

The examples I'm thinking of resulted in MAF failure, and in one particularly egregious case also failure of the electronic throttle body motor and the idle air control valve. Guy ended up stranded on the side of the road and (in fury) told us it was our fault because we had "touched it last" during an oil change 5,000mi earlier. The K&N wash/refresh that he performed himself a few days prior did not seem to occur to him as a potential contributor to his situation.

It's better for everyone concerned if owners simply don't modify their vehicles unless they are willing to take financial responsibility for the outcomes. Seems fair to me.

Yeah, I had a hard lesson on this on my very first car when I was a youngster - right before a yearly roadworthiness inspection (the best time to modify your car, naturally!). Being an aspiring-but-still-clueless hooligan/rally-star, I swapped the standard intake with paper filter for pod-style intake with oiled-sponge filter, and not seeing any other place to do so, reconnected the crank case breather line to the inside of the pod (i.e. behind the filter) ... several miles down the road, on the way to the inspection, panic-inducing smoky hilarity and a tow home ensued

With regard to the actual topic at hand, on a non-turbo engine, I'd be pretty surprised if changing the pipes (downstream of any sensors) could be classed as risky in terms of ability to cause engine damage... it is a significantly different thing than changing the intake side and causing the engine to ingest god-knows-what. Unless you hamfistedly somehow add quite a lot more restriction / back-pressure, with terrible low radius press bends and/or stuff a potato in for good measure.

Any hints you could share as to what might be coming from the factory Tom?

I've heard rumours but nothing confirmed. Includes carbon exterior parts to replace some of the gloss black pieces, some trickle down from the GT4 race car (potentially front splitter and rear wing), sports exhaust, adjustable suspension and maybe a factory-approved power upgrade. I thought they might get announced late Q2/early Q3 but the dates seem to have evaporated, much like the date for the Base info.
