Emira Fiend
Hey all, Merry Christmas! I got a kick out of this video, as we all surely have at least 4-5 items on this list that we agree with.
Throttle House - 10 Worst Modern Car Features
Obviously I realized how well my Emira scores against this list (2024 V6 MT). If a score of "10" would mean that it suffers none of these features, I'd give it a solid 9.
My personal rationale:
- the car doesn't beep at me. If there is a beep somewhere it doesn't register as an annoyance, which means I give credit to the timing, volume and tone choices made by the designers
- good plug location options to charge a phone, plus the choice to charge with or without connecting to the infotainment
- no fake engine noise
- don't need the voice assist for anything, so I don't care if it's good or bad
- the headlights are wonderful for my vision and, being a lower car, never seem to bother oncoming traffic (no one's ever flashing me)
- I take away a half-point for the instrument cluster being a screen (because I'd prefer analogue) but it's a simple screen and doesn't bother me
- also, the infotainment screen is nicely placed and not too big. easy to ignore and just focus on driving thanks to HVAC hard-buttons and knobs
- I take away another half point for some piano black, but small enough to still be scratch free after almost two years
- no subscription-based options (other that my subscription to gasoline and motor oil)
- no stop/start
- no lane assist (2024/2025)
This all reminded me of Paul's comment (Everyday Driver) that the Emira is the newest-old-car, or the oldest-new-car.
