Auto100 - UK Trader in Sutton in Ashfield

I have come very close to buying an Emira from Lotus Colchester in the last 2 weeks. I'm firmly of the belief that all the cars on their forecourt are "dud" cars and hearing how useless they seem to be at dealing with repairs/issues I just don't want to rely on them for after sales care at all.
I'm sorry to hear of all the trouble people are having, tainting what should be a great experience - hopefully light at the end of tunnel soon. I can't imagine what the cost of underwriting the warranties on these cars is like and it wouldn't at all surprise me if it had gone up substantially since launch and is now partly baked into the new pricing increases.

Buying from one dealer does nor preclude from using another for warranty work or servicing. If Colchester has a decent car you are interested in, their ability to get them fixed should not stop you buying it, unless the next closest dealership is a lot further away

So, finally got my Emira back from Lotus Colchester today, just 8 days short of 5 months after it went in! Only problem now is that the PPF on the roof is damaged and the dashboard centre speaker is buzzing (it wasn’t before it went in). Think I’ll drive it a while and get these new jobs done when it goes in for it’s first service…..

Mine throws a 'computer says no' from time to time. Unless it stops me driving the thing I ignore it and usually like within a day it resets itself and we're all good again. It threw a new on on me ytd - the glovebox would not open. Seriously. Just would not open no matter how many times I pressed the release button or banged it. I just thought ah fuck it I'll have them look at it next service and was glad I had nothing important in there. This morning on starting it up...... glove box opened no problem. Don't sweat the small stuff I think somebody once said.

A further update. It seems my ‘journey’ with my Emira continues. I’ve now had the chance to clean it and drive it for a few days (it’s 11 days since I picked it up from Lotus Colchester). Unfortunately, I’ve got more faults! It’s now booked in, in 5 weeks for the following to be checked/replaced:

Drivers door mirror - This was a listed fault back in December and was supposed to be addressed during the 5 months it was in getting work. It’s now very loose, wobbles and doesn’t open out after unlocking the car.

HVAC controls - The 2 lights on the HVAC buttons do not light up and pressing the buttons (to switch AC on/off or auto on/off) have no effect.

dashboard speaker - This was fine prior to going in for the repair work. Now it buzzes like crazy, so bad that the audio cannot be used.

PPF - They damaged the PPF when they did the original repairs, so they allegedly got a company to re-do the PPF. However, there’s a large rip and flap sticking up in the PPF on the roof. Secondly, there’s PPF on the drivers side door sill that hasn’t been fitted properly and is sticking up in 2 places.

So, as I said, it looks like my Emira journey continues. Once again, I’ll be without the car for who know’s how long………

I know it is not much consolation for you but when I was looking to buy my Emira I had rung up Auto100 to enquire about one they had for sale on Autotrader. I had a conversation with their sales director and arranged to drive up to Mansfield to see the car. But after the phone call something just felt "off" so I googled "Auto100" and "Emira" and found this forum and your post. After reading what you had said I decided never to buy anything from Auto100 and got my Emira elsewhere - and I'm very glad I did thanks to this post.

Great...

I've just put a deposit down on a nimbus at Colchester, very pro active before the deposit, abit quiet since.

I was told today when enquiring about collecting, that they are awaiting a final part?!?!
Why the hell wasn't this mentioned to me before?
Prior to this I was told all recall updates were done,so what part?

I don't mind a week or 2 wait to collect, but why is it advertised if its awaiting parts still???

Not a good start to a 2nd Emira, I'm a glutton for punishment I guess, but damn I love these cars, just not the customer service

My biggest beef was with Auto100 but with the short time I had the car before it went into Colchester and the amount of work and issues that needed doing and the fact that Lotus CC was copied in on every email, I would have thought that they would have been all over car to make sure it was absolutely perfect when it was returned. To find another load of issues that should never have got past quality control is gutting. I’m sure there must be good Lotus dealers somewhere! I’ve seen a few posts on here praising a few, I’m just not sure Lotus Colchester is one of them.

This is why I hate having warranty work done on my cars. Fix one thing, and break two more things. There's rarely any pride of work and care, they just want to get it done quickly. I've had the doors painted on mine (like many) and now I have wind noise I didn't before, and a nice scratch through the leather at the top of the door card. I think I would have preferred the paint bubbles with hindsight.

Regarding the LEDs on the A/C controls check at night. I posted a similar issue and apparently they're just very faint. Even if they don't illuminate, and everything else on them works I would just leave it. You don't want the damage/new trim rattles from them ripping it all out.

Thanks Miamiblue. Good points. With regards to my HVAC controls, with the display on climate, when I push the buttons on the dials, nothing changes in the screen I.e. auto remains on regardless how many times I press the auto button on the HVAC controls.

I think that’s by design - how it’s supposed to be. To turn it out of Auto mode you rotate that dial through the modes, eg a click or two to the left and it will show OFF on the screen. I don’t think pressing that button is supposed to turn it out of Auto mode.
