There is a lovely coffee roaster in the outskirts of Milton Keynes called Doe and Fawn Coffee that hosts an open morning each and every Saturday called "shutters up". I was having a good chat with one of the owners, who is a petrolhead, about hosting a cars-and-coffee style event with them with a lot of emphasis on the coffee. It would not be just an accessory to the cars. The place runs coffee classes and tours so tying one of these into the event would be, for me, fit that mission. Add in a drive out to start the morning and I think as a list the event would go:
I haven't got a route prepared just yet but I am thinking of running this on Saturday 4th April. It should be a good time of the year with spring being in full flow. The link to the roastery tour and cupping event is linked here if you want to take part or read more into what is involved. If there are a good few of us signed up to come in some capacity (to the shutters up or the roastery tour) I'll try arrange with them to reserve parking spaces for us out front.
Who is interested?
- Meet somewhere with a 30-60 mins spirited drive out from the roasters
- Drive as a group along a prepared route, parking up outside when we get to the venue
- Mill about for a bit before one of these classes start so people who wanted to come but not necessarily for the drive out can arrive
- Take part in a coffee class or tour
- At some point go home
