Emira Owner
This is my first car on this level and I’m having a blast

My car journey for context:
  • EP3 Civic Si from 2003-2014
  • 2006 Tacoma SR5 4x4 manual 4-cyl 2014-2021
  • 2021 Model 3 performance 2021-2024
  • 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-road manual
  • 2024 Emira FE V6 Manual - purchased Nov 2024, started driving it March 2025
The bad
  • Steering wheel shape is awful. Should just be round. It doesn’t make it feel special, just makes it worse
  • Fuel cutoff at redline is unacceptable IMO. Coming from the Honda world, where you can slam against the redline, the Emira is jarring
  • Reliability hasn’t been great. Have a strange issue with cold starts on sunny days
  • Seats aren’t the best
  • Wish it had a real handbrake
  • The car gets too much attention. Wasn’t really prepared for this.
The good
  • Canyon driving is awesome. This is why I bought the car and it excels
  • Perfect size, balance, power, etc
  • Steering feel
  • Throttle, pedals, heal/toe blips, shifting are all fantastic
  • Sounds great (3rd cat delete)
  • Ride quality is good. Not too stiff and not too soft
  • The car is stunning. Still can’t believe I own a car that looks like this. Gets lots of positive attention

That’s my short experience so far. I’ve been driving the car for a few months now and have about 1500 miles on it. Mostly loving it!

I have had the same experiences as most of what you said except the following:
  • The steering wheel doesn't really bother me...maybe I've just gotten used to it.
  • Reliability for me has been fine with just a few transient CELs and a couple limp modes during break-in. From miles 4-5K, nothing but a few CELs that went away and these were always after doing a bit higher than normal revving at car shows when I've had people insisting :)
On the rev limiter topic, I absolutely detest how the rev limiter cuts off the power so hard and fast (mainly in 1st and sometimes 2nd). The first time it happened I thought the car literally stalled out or something more serious. That might be my #1 gripe with the car. If it could rev to 7,200 and bounce off the limiter like most cars, that would be a HUGE improvement. Whenever I have someone riding with me who wants to go fast, I'm a bit paranoid of hitting the limiter anytime I get on the gas in 1st/2nd gears because it's so jarring.

I thought it was funny you mentioned that the attention was too much in the cons section followed by a pro that it gets lots of positive attention. I personally have had almost nothing but great interactions with people about the car and while yes it is a lot of attention, I find that part of the Emira ownership experience quite enjoyable.

I’ve also had almost all positive attention too. But had quite a few dangerous situations with people filming me while driving lol. And people just filming me in general, not used to that.

One funny thing I noticed is almost every motorcycle I pass gives me a nod or thumbs up/wave

I didn't like the steering wheel shape either when I got the car. But with use (4000+ miles) it has grown on me - I may even be starting to like the shape now.

And ditto with the motorcyclists - I got a thumbs-up from a very fast Kawasaki biker right after I have picked my car up, which was nice.
