The only thing that would get me to buy a new one and get out of my V6 manual would be a V8 manual Spider/Targa. That would be well worth the upgrade.
Or maybe a V6 hybrid.
But back to the real world I don't see it happening.
Im not surprised at the article. Full Electric is not the way to go and simply does not work on mass. Lotus has noticed that in their sales figures.
Now to save the company they are turning to the Emira. My thoughts will be the AMG unit from the C43 etc. Maybe loose some of the space behind the seats to fit it all.
Anyway we are going to see some very interesting tech for Euro 7 standards which are basically running at a Lambda of 1 across all engine loads.
Or maybe a V6 hybrid.

It’s an easy conclusion but I think it’s far from the full picture; even if the SUV and the other car had been ICE, who would buy them? They aren’t true Lotuses, they are way overpriced, they are (IMhO) ugly, and they are brand new unproven entries to that market. I don’t think they ever had a chance.
However, a PHEV Emira is intriguing.

At least for the SUV, I think it could've done well if it had a decently 70-80kish price range. Who wants to buy a 220k hyper SUV? I could easily see people here in CA taking it over a Macan because it has exotic exterior styling and a rather unique interior.

Similar thoughts. Here in my neck of the woods in So Cal where people seem so desperate for the next shiny object that's different from their neighbors (where else can you spot a VinFast and a Fisker Ocean in the same day?), I think Lotus EVs could actually have a chance against Porsche EVs (both sedans and SUVs) if they were priced no more than 70% of Porsche prices. Getting close to or above Porsche pricing and sales will be dismal I think. Gotta establish that foothold and get them out there and visible to make them more desirable to the general public first. My opinions only of course.

Lotus EVs are for sale at round 80k in China but still not selling well. They can do better in the other markets but unfortunately the price has become ridiculous because of the tariff.

They mentioned the upgrade v6 and hybrid in the earnings report. No mention of an i4t in '27. The i4 accounts for only 20% of the cars in North America and many of those appear to still be sitting on dealer lots. I could imagine the hybrid may have a turbo 4 that replaces the current i4 in the lineup.
