    I4 GPF and removal

And does anyone know if the downpipe sports cat from Aerie or Mach5 are validated for Europe regulations? Is the gpf a single piece with the downpipe? I know these questions might be technically wrong, I’ve still got a long way to go, bare with me 🙏🏻

3rd round of Redundancies at Lotus 😞

Wouldn’t it (the i4) be a good starting point for the hybrid version?

    Tailgate not closing

Sure I’ll post some pics tomorrow or Monday, as soon as possible. The latch assembly was the culprit

    Tailgate not closing

Got it sorted. I had to disassemble the latch assembly and found that the nuts were totally loose. I recommend keeping a set of torx screwdrivers and some wrenches (6-10) in the car!

    Tailgate not closing

Hey I’m in a bit of an emergency here. I parked the car and opened the trunk, then went ahead and lowered the tailgate as always to close the trunk. Now no matter what I do, the tailgate will not fully trigger the latch and the car will display the “trunk open” light in the dashboard. I can’t...

    Car Cover.

Well I went ahead and changed the hotel in order to have my car parked in a garage for that “heavy rain”. I’m SO glad i did. It’s been a hell out there, nothing like a normal “heavy rain”. Again, if possible, please consider a different solution than a car cover.

3rd round of Redundancies at Lotus 😞

I mostly agree with this but on a more positive side, I think that the chances of Hethel closing are lower. I am so very sorry for the layoffs but for what remains, and for what Geely has planned (going more luxury), Hethel might actually gain “value”… IF things are done correctly from now on...

    Finally an Emira Owner

Welcome to you and to your car, and thanks for sharing your experience about switching from a 911, it’s always interesting to get a different perspective! Have fun!

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

I agree with this. It’s just that being robbed of 40 bhp just because “EU”, really hurts. But yes, no one is forcing me to fill that gap and as I already said (agreed with actually), waiting for the warranty to expire is the way to go for me. I will try to preserve the engine and the car value...

    Car Cover.

Hey thanks for your feedback! I usually have my Emira in my garage, but here in the alps we’re having some extra days off in a place where nobody offers a garage of some sort for rent. The car is parked outside just for a couple of days, and I already feel guilty enough for that. It’s good to...

    Car Cover.

Hey sorry for the partially off topic question, but I am in the Alps atm and the weather forecast says heavy rain or maybe thunderstorms for tonight/tomorrow. I have my car parked outside, no way to get a cover here. Is it safe to keep it under such heavy rain just this time? I am worried about...

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

I represent, maybe, the best case of dummy user that never got his/her hands dirty on car mechanics and stuff. I would not be able to make sure something like the intercooler sensor wire is easy to remove, nor have I access to tools or anything needed. Also, I would need to fully trust the one...

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

Yet another fine reason for me to stay away from this kind of tuning, sadly. It’s super interesting, but voiding the warranty and having to replace stuff like that just isn’t within my budget (I suppose that 20-30k would be easy to reach). I might spend those money for racing a couple of times...

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

This is the kind of feedback I was looking for, thanks! The thought of replacing the engine, transmission or whatever is not my cup of tea, I’d be constantly worried about time, money etc. I’ll be better off having some mods to the exhaust system (which if I’m not mistaken should be less harmful...

    Hello... Again.

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

I won’t be the one installing the JB4, since I’m a noob plus the i4 looks to be much trickier than the v6. This means I will not have control over how the job is done. If fitting the piggyback means accepting the risk to see my engine fail without doing fancy things by a high chance, say 10-15%...

JB4 Thread for Lotus Emira AMG i4 (M139 Engine) – Tuning, Setup, Results & Support

Hey sorry for the beginner’s question but can fitting the JB4 threaten the health of the engine? I’m not planning anything crazy, no ethanol or something, just trying to compensate for those 40bhp that we in the EU were stolen.

    Stock pops and bangs

I plugged in a cheap obdii reader which returned P13C2 and P246B codes (by the Airbag ECU??) and when done the CEL went off without having cleared them. Started the car again and the CEL was back on. Gave the car a short ride in sport and there were VERY subtle pops when shifting down, very hard...

    Debadge Emira?

No rear letters on my Emira after fixing the paint issue and waiting for ppf. I might like it better this way though! (Sorry for the very bad pic)

    Emira Turbo exhausts

Sorry for the dumb question, this is all new to me. Is the Arie sports cat validated in EU (Italy)? The page says nothing about it so I suppose it’s not.

    Stock pops and bangs

In that case I’d expect the owner’s manual to mention a power limit, but it just says something about avoiding driving and taking the car to a shop as soon as possible if I’m not mistaken. Interesting. Also, shouldn’t the car explicitly warn you in case of a power limit? Thanks for your feedback...

Anyone considering replacing their current Emira with the updated 2026 model?

I agree with the price gap being too wide to justify the leap. The only thing that annoys me about my FE is 360hp, thanks to our stupid EU. Yes, I can (and probably will) fit a piggyback, but that will come with the risk of invalidating the warranty, and other legal implications, which is not...

    Stock pops and bangs

So whatever the issue is that makes that warning light on, that would stop the pops and bangs? Do you know the reason why?

    AI wonder ... Mixed feelings

M It looks like it changed the perspective of the car more then shortening the wheelbase 😉

    Stock pops and bangs

I tried searching the forum for this but couldn’t find an answer. When I first tried the Emira, track mode would give me pops and bangs, which is something that made me fall in love with the car. Now that I reached 1600km, I only slightly tried track mode for 1 minute, and sport mode for 5...

Washing considerations - what to watch out for?

Indeed. I asked because of the dreaded Emira paintwork. I guess I’ll stick with the dirt until I get some shade tomorrow morning

Washing considerations - what to watch out for?

The manual recommends to wash in the shade. These days I hardly get any shade here. Do you think this could be an issue?

Who needs a truck or SUV?

Unfortunately I just unloaded everything from the car without taking any photos, but I managed to put: - two normal sized pillows - one bag with cooking stuff together with an induction hob - three bags with shoes - two cabin-sized trolleys - one golf bag with 12 clubs and handy bag - one big...

New Source for Tactile Steering Wheel Buttons - ships to U.S.

If it’s a “normal” level of “clickyness”, then it’s fine with me. The factory touch controls are unbearable for me. I’ll talk to the shop and get a quote for the job.

    Time to buy

A nightmare? The car is the buggiest cars I ever had. But I am learning a lot from it. Did you try one? If you did, then you know why you’re after it. The car is a blast, but you need to embrace the Lotus “experience” as a whole. Also, don’t cheap out too much on it, if the price was too low, I...

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Yesterday I drove nearly 700km, and CarPlay has been a real pita. It got so bugged I had to turn off the engine, have a bath stop, and reconnect the whole thing from scratch. It wouldn’t work in any way possible. This is not desirable when you’re driving, there’s cars everywhere and need Maps to...

New Source for Tactile Steering Wheel Buttons - ships to U.S.

I’m considering ordering these, but would ask the shop to install them for me. I don’t really feel like messing with airbag. Would that make this not worth it? They look ok from your pics, but how loud are they? I would be annoyed if they were too clicky.
