    Any Ice Grey regrets?

I chose Ice Grey Nappa for my Seneca Blue car with Full Blackpack, but it was going to be Red Nappa before I chickened out. I definitely did not want black, and the Tan Nappa was too traditional of a choice for me. I don't regret my decision at all. I am not super anal about cleanliness but I...

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

Notice how closely the AMC Pacer resembles a tall Porsche 928, a car I have come to appreciate aesthetically.

LA service price is too high

Although Boardwalk Lotus in the Bay Area assured me that no break-in oil change was necessary, I got around to doing it at 3650 miles after so many here did it after 1000 miles. Boardwalk said it would be $450, so I balked and told myself it would be inexcusable to not do it myself considering...

Second Car, Sports Car living in a building?

Being able to get lifts into our two car garage was well worth the money. Not only can we store more cars but we can service them. When my dealer quoted $450 just to change the oil on the Emira, I realized that it would be a fool to have them do it when the lift makes it so easy.

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

Perhaps we should consider the age of the car when comparing against the Emira. Going against old established classics like the Miura, Dino, E-type, etc. is a tall order for a modern car. So what "modern" car is more beautiful? And what constitutes "modern"? My personal cutoff for modern...

What car is more beautiful than an Emira?

F40 not mine but cared for by the same restoration shop, Classic Jaguar in Austin, TX. My car is Opalescent Silver Blue which is the original color of the car.

I’m biased as well. Here’s my Emira’s stablemate

    Shift Knob Replacement

I might be alone on this, but I actually find myself feeling for the setscrew hole with my fingertip as a reference point for positioning my hand around the ball. I also find the size of the ball just right for my small hands and have not had to deal with many extreme temperature fluctuations yet.

    911T vs Emira

Braking benefits for the same reason. Because of weight transfer, each brake handles a more equal percentage of the load, so there’s less likelihood of exceeding the amount of grip available from the tire.

    Lightweight battery

I understood that you had the Amazon battery in mind, but with China dominating the global lithium-ion battery industry, I wasn't afraid to take the plunge. My only regret now is how much I paid for the Antigravity battery.

    Lightweight battery

I've had the Antigravity in my E-type Jag for over two years now, and despite the Lucas wiring, the car hasn't gone up in flames yet (it's come close, but not the fault of the battery). I am more concerned about the different charging requirements of the lithium battery vs. lead acid. It seems...

    Lightweight battery

There has been no discernible degradation in battery performance so far, I'm happy to report. The price was under $300, which isn't much more than a conventional lead acid battery. I didn't have to replace the original battery, and the weight savings will likely make no difference to handling...

Lotus Emira V8 in Testing & Other News

A new Esprit V8 was well over $160k in today's dollars, apparently.

    Show us your stable!

"After buying the MX5 I would drive it quite a bit even with the Evora sitting in the garage." Interesting to hear this. I feel that daily driving my supercharged BRZ is not that much of a negative thing compared to driving the Emira.

    Isotype Green in the Flesh

You have excellent taste. I would not disagree with that short list. I may be biased, however, being lucky enough to have both the Emira and E-type in my garage. Miura is my dream lottery car along with 250GT Lusso and SWB, not forgetting the 300SL Gullwing.

    Show us your stable!

Some of these pics have been posted elsewhere but I thought it would be more appropriate to repost them here. I find it interesting that my stable has a car older than most of the ones I've seen so far on this thread. My daily is the BRZ which is supercharged. These three are the most...

    Emira V6 Manual vs. R8 V10 Manual

Speaking of "retro", I have both a rather new Emira and a rather old E-type coupe (1964, in better than new condition) and can share my experiences with how much attention each car gets. Both cars get a huge amount of attention, but I think the Jag gets more overall. It really does depend on...

I decided to get it before tariffs kicked in. Not sure if it's still available at the same price now. So far, the car has not acted like anything was changed.

    Lightweight battery

I got this one from Amazon and the fit was right on, not too tight or too loose, same group size as stock. Hopefully it will not let me down.

    Tariffs on Emira in US?

I believe that one American car which was successful in Europe was the Jeep Cherokee (XJ), partly because of its size, but possibly also due to its connection with Renault. Sadly, this is the only example I can think of.

Is it weird I like driving it a lot more than modern 911's?

Happy to hear the E-type being mentioned. I have a concours-level restomod with many performance upgrades which shares the garage with the Emira.

    Emira Custom Plates

In California, I was late to the game, so I had to make do if I wanted a plate that alluded to the car in some way. I didn't even try with any "EMIRA" variations. I considered "NELUMBO" for a while, which is the Latin/scientific name for the Lotus plant and which could pass for Italian, as in...

    Insurance

Like 4N MSSL, I was also quoted $11k from AAA, my daily car insurer. I ended up going with Hagerty, who insure my E-type Jag. They quoted me $2k and I switched immediately, but not before paying one day's worth of insurance with AAA, a ridiculous $90!
