Clutch issue - scraping when engaging clutch

I had an issue where the clutch would feel gritty on return and sometimes only return half way up and I would have to pull the pedal back up with my foot. It turned out that I had a leaking fitting in the clutch line and it was actually dripping fluid. So you could be feeling the effects of...

    Changing the Emira's Weight Distribution

There's not much point in trying to change the car's weight distribution to a significant degree. The significant parts from a mass perspective are where they are and you can't really change them with little tweaks. If the weight distribution is a significant issue for you, you're best off...

The dealer must have taken mine off before I got it. I'm jealous that I didn't get to peel it off of my car when I got it.

What's the worst rental car you've had?

My Integra GS-R had the mouse belt. The day I bought it I pulled the fuse that drove that ridiculous thing and just manually latched it over my shoulder while doing the lap belt. It become as much of a habit as a normal belt that I never thought about it.

    2027 Changes

They mentioned the upgrade v6 and hybrid in the earnings report. No mention of an i4t in '27. The i4 accounts for only 20% of the cars in North America and many of those appear to still be sitting on dealer lots. I could imagine the hybrid may have a turbo 4 that replaces the current i4 in...

What's the worst rental car you've had?

Over the past 3 weeks I've had two rental cars that were absolute, and surprising opposites. The first one was an AWD Camry Hybrid that absolutely surprised me. The drivetrain was resaonably peppy and behaved nicely. The quality of the interior and controls were great and it got 50 mpg over...

    What is Euro7 Emissions?

Lots of misconception and lack of info on Euro7. It's not lamda=1 under all loads, it decreases some limits depending on if the car is gasoline or diesel. It's longer reaching in time and reducing other emissions like brake and tire dust...

    Hello... Again.

Welcome! I'm really enjoying meridian blue. The only down side is that it really has to be in the sun to show off the multiple colors of metal flake in the paint. Otherwise it looks almost plain black.

Color code for yellow calipers? Anyone?

I ordered LY1C from an online site and it doesn't match the brakes at all. It's far less florescent. I don't know if it's the code or the vendor. Has anyone had a good match with LY1C?

So Lotus Emira has real hood now!

Yes, who wants to break out tools to check for a blown fuse?

So Lotus Emira has real hood now!

From a designer's standpoint, yes, screws are easy and cheap. However, it's very easy to go into any of a half dozen catalogs and find a latch to buy (it's more complicated than that with safety regulations, of course but still..). From a UX standpoint, it's a fail. When you're designing a...

So Lotus Emira has real hood now!

It would be nice if they used an actual latch system. Why they chose to hold the hood down with screws and fiddly caps make no sense to me.

Anyone considering replacing their current Emira with the updated 2026 model?

I sold my (manual) V8 Vantage to make space for my Emira. The v6 sounds good, I don't have any complaints, but it doesn't compare to the sympathy that comes from that Aston Martin. That's just one aspect. The V8 had a great character once I added a lightened flywheel that set it free to...

Anyone considering replacing their current Emira with the updated 2026 model?

If a manual V8 were offered (which I highly doubt) there will be a glut of V6s on the market.

Anyone considering replacing their current Emira with the updated 2026 model?

I'd wait until they make some kind of significant change to the car at least. There will probably be a facelift and maybe even a power bump in 2027 according to the Spring investors call.

    Matt Windle leaves Lotus

Extended warranty is a HUGE profit maker for manufacturers. I expect that there's a problem in Lotus' ability to offer it rather than a lack of confidence in the product.

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

It sounds like a little more management of weight transfer would be in order. These cars have good turn-in but they are rear weight biased. Porsches have more safety nets in place to correct for mistakes and keep the car on the road than this car does so the 911 may be looking out for you when...

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

I guess I'm looking for more detail on what you mean by "handle it". Was it understeering, oversteering, on the way in, on the way out, skipping over bumps?

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

Can you explain in any more detail what you're doing and feeling? Do you have any other cars to compare to on the same onramp? Do you have experience in mid engine cars? What is the road surface like? What's the camber of the on ramp?

To PPF or not to PPF

I was speaking in general but yes, the 3M patterns for the Emira have seams in the vent area of the front bumper, the intakes in the rear quarters, the top of the rear hatch buttress area and on the mirrors.

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

Bringing in an outsider without perspective or even worse an agenda without context will generisize...

How could they screw up a key fob so bad?

I've got both the plastic cover (in red) and the leather one as well. I also prefer the plastic one. Both make the key even more bulky but the leather one moreso and it probably won't last as long. Anyone looking into the plastic cover, the metal colored part is just painted. The entire...

Which options would you drop if you ordered now?

My car is a base V6. I opted for every option but the KEF stereo and am happy with my choices. However, for a wish list I would have really liked a manual seat option and the ability to order the side skirts in body color. I'd also really like a gauge style instrument cluster.

Clutch pedal not returning all the way?

The new Emira has been running great for it's first 917 miles. Today it was 90F outside and mid way through a drive the clutch pedal only returned half way up. I pulled it up with my foot and it worked normally for a while. Then stuck again. It only happened the two times. New, full fluid. Has...

    Emira weight distribution

The transmission determines where the drivetrain mass is relative to the axle. In a front drive car it's beneficial to get the engine as close to the axle as possible for weight distribution and packaging. Unless Lotus was to design a different transmission, they're limited. You can move the...

    Emira weight distribution

Unless Lotus changes the engine/transmission to something that isn't FWD based, the weight distribution won't change. The relative position between the drivetrain and the axle is set. Porsche achieves a 45/55 wt distribution by longitudinally mounting the engine so it can sit further away from...

    Emira weight distribution

911s have a feeling like the back end of the car is still turning a beat after you feel like you're done with the corner. That's the best way I can describe it. The Emira and the other Lotus don't do that at all.

    Emira weight distribution

There's a big difference in the dynamics of a car with the engine behind the axle vs in front of it, even if the cars have similar weight distribution on the tires. The polar moment of inertia on a 911 will encourage the tail to swing out. The weight outside the wheelbase serves to destabilize...
