I appreciate the kind words! You're absolutely right about power figures... especially in a world of Hellcats and Teslas, the Emira is incredibly engaging. It is definitely a steering sensation that is hard to emulate elsewhere unless you go with another more raw Lotus or something of the like...

The V10 is supposedly much more reliable (and ironically easy to work on) than the V8. Apparently was not designed by Audi alone, if at all, and was used in late model Gallardos (5.2, not 5.0) and Huracans.... the only engine warrantied for the 24 hours of Le Mans, so that must mean something...

Well I managed to close the deal and the car was delivered to me yesterday! R8 V10 with a gated manual. So much car, an absolute blast to drive. Way more than I am capable of exploiting right now in any conditions, and more than will ever be fully exploitable on streets by basically anyone...

Yeah, I was quoted about $8k by a really reputable Audi service department about 30 minutes from me, and just slightly less by a local shop. Hopefully it wont need done for a good while, but wanted to get out ahead and know the prices ahead just in case. Fingers crossed it lasts! Thanks!

Following up on this: I don't want to jinx it, but I am currently in the process of signing for a pre-owned R8 V10 Gated Manual. Has new tires, just had magride replaced, just had AC compressor replaced, and had spark plugs changed less than 10k miles ago. Good service docs with all oil changes...

Hahaha I have to admit, they arent my favorite in terms of looks either, but I think Gen 1 is better than Gen 2 by a little bit. Also, they are pretty common, at least the V8s. Not the worst thing in the world though.

Yeah I think they would have sold better if they started out all looking like the type S, that is for sure! Interior doesn't bother me, but my standards are kind of low compared to many people when it comes to that stuff.
