    More Reports of Emira Hybrid

I recently rented a Corolla, and it was insufferable. In stop and go traffic, it beeped at me to brake each time traffic stopped, and booped each time it started moving. It watched my face, and if I ever looked away from straight ahead for a couple of seconds, it'd beep and tell me to pay...

    More Reports of Emira Hybrid

This is an example of market chaos due to mandates changing very quickly. The EV mandate is impractical, the technology isn't quite there yet. There are many nice EV's, but they can't fit every duty cycle since the energy density of batteries is so much lower than of gasoline. Reality is hitting...

    More Reports of Emira Hybrid

Lotus is cheap and broke. It's going to be some commodity system, not something from an exotic supercar, that much is certain.

Here's the kind of cool stuff RaceStudio can do. I now have laps from Sonoma in my Elise SC and my Emira. This is a comparison of my best Elise lap (1:57.997) and my best Emira lap (1:53.875). The top graph is distance over time, so basically speed. The middle graph is lateral acceleration, the...

Have you tried Harry's Lap Timer as a datalogger? Combined with a GoPro, it's pretty nice, then you can use RaceRender to overlay the data onto the video if you want to. It's a far cheaper option. What AIM gets you is their RaceStudio, which is pretty nice at comparing laps, seeing where you...

    Just super frustrated!

Oof, this thread is painful to read, you've had such bad luck. My Elise had a lot of teething issues in around 2008, which I fixed, and then it was a super reliable car until I sold it this year. Hang in there, it'll get better. As for my Emira, this is the current state of my power steering...

I topped off the PAS fluid (which was empty) and the steering rack works fine when there's fluid, but it's gushing out of the pump, so it's pretty clear that I lost the pump, and not the rack. Not sure how Lotus will handle it yet as my appointment is tomorrow. Here's what a really sick power...

It's pretty obvious when a car has been tracked, even if I don't tell them :) I can't possibly clean off all the evidence. I won't be volunteering this information, but I won't deny it. However, I'm pretty damn sure my power steering started to fail en route to the track, because the back of my...

These cars handle heat well, I've tracked in > 100F days. Let it run a few minutes after you end a session so it can shed the heat, and you won't have heat soak problems. I think this was my 6th track day in this car. This isn't a light car, and I don't know what caused my power steering to...

I've just done my first Sonoma Raceway event in the Emira. The EBC RP1 + Girodisc Rotors are fantastic. Tires this time were Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R (Porsche version) First off, I love these tires! Man oh man are they better than the LTS Cup 2's, and Super Sports and the Dunlops that I...

    Emira Condensation in Headlamps

My Elise did this all the time, and what I'd do is put in a large package of dessicant in the housing, out of sight. It lasts a few months, then you microwave it to release the water and put it back in. Maybe there's room for a packet of it in the Emira headlights :)

    Brake caliper bolt torque specs

These bolts, surprisingly, are a special order item from dealers, $18 to $35 each based on calling the three dealers within driving distance of me. Crazy! I tried to find an alternative, but I could not. The bolt is a 10.9 grade, 12mm bolt, 1.5mm thread pitch, 75mm long. A standard hex head...

    Tire rack street/track tires comparisons

I tried to get the Nankang CR-S before my next track day this week, but they're backordered for months. No idea when they'll be available. I've had more than one order fall through. Instead, I'll be running Pilot Sport Cup 2R's, a 140TW Porsche tire. We'll see how goes! They cost quite a lot.

Girodisc rotors with Tarox Corsa Pads installation

What's the spec of the replacement bolt you used for your calipers? I also had a hell of a time removing the E14 bolts, until I started using a blowtorch to warm up the upright on the remainder, and they came out easily. The OEM bolt is part number 8891014034 and it's quite hard to find. I...

    Brake caliper bolt torque specs

I took out the bolts today and re-used them, and they're nearly impossible to remove without some kind of damage to the head due to all the solidified thread locker on them. I had a battle with one wheel, and had to use a blow torch to warm up the iron upright to make it expand, then it came out...

    Brake caliper bolt torque specs

It's a little confusing, because TTY bolts are usually torqued first, then rotated a specified amount afterwards, like half a turn or whatever. In a couple of other cars I've owned, the manual calls for bolt replacement because new bolts come with thread locker on them, and it's done that way...

Best Alignment Settings for Sharper Turn-In & Heavier Steering on Emira?

The suspension makes a huge difference. My car had the non-sport suspension, and on Nitrons, it's a different car. I've also maxed out my negative camber, but the toe settings are stock.

Coolant additives to decrease engine temperatures

I have a V6 Emira and I've tracked it in very hot weather, approaching 100F, and I pushed it quite hard. It never overheated. The temperature gauge is indeed an idiot gauge that always reads 200F, however, OBD-II logging on my AIM showed the actual temperature, which approached 220F...

Who here has tracked their Emira?

I don't know of any aftermarket A-arms yet. I'm also slightly lowered on Nitrons (no choice but to lower with them), so maybe you can get a little more camber with stock, but I'm not sure. For track, just go max camber, whatever is possible. AFAIK, these cars don't have a toe link issue.

Who here has tracked their Emira?

A "track specific" alignment means maxing out your camber. I managed about -1.5 degrees in front and about -2 degrees in rear. The front camber seems sufficient, but the rear is definitely not enough, and it'll need some aftermarket A-arms to dial in properly. You'll find that you're shredding...

@netsinah , this is normal. You picked up "clag". You got your tires nice and hot and those little rolls of rubber stuck to your tires. They will hold onto your tires for a very long time. Don't worry about it, unless it's uneven and causes a vibration, in which case you can scrape some off with...

3.5 Air Filter - did you know?

I went back to the dealer, and yeah, they said they made a mistake and gave me the correct filters. The Emira filters are more expensive than the Evora filters, and they were nice enough just to swap them. The Emira filters are both Lotus specific parts, no Toyota analogue. It looks like the...

3.5 Air Filter - did you know?

I'm just using the OBD-II feature in the Solo 2 DL, generic CAN, and it works great. It supports limited channels; RPM, Speed, TPS, PPS, ECT, IAT, Fuel Level, MAF, MAP. There's no Emira specific mapping of ID's, so maybe the car exports more. I've not had time to investigate.
