1962 Lotus Elite on BaT, gorgeous car

Luckily in this case, the tach is broken and he's only revving up to around 5k! Otherwise, he'd deserve to be flogged for abusing the best road model Lotus ever made.

    “Bricked” after Brake Fault

It's good to hear they came back to life. How long did it take for them to start working again after they shut down?

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

I was sincerely hoping Lotus added a sensor "just because it's better than the Evora" which only has the low pressure switch. One less thing to worry about. Or one more thing to worry about. I never had oil issues on any previous Lotus so I'll just move this to the simple annoyance bucket.

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

It specifically said engine oil temperature. I'm going to guess it'll be one of the unspecified pids and you'd have to look at it while running and see if it "looks" like oil temperature. Then assign that to your app as oil temperature. I'm sure this will give me something to do if it...

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

I was just scanning the owners manual and under launch control it says oil temperature is one of the parameters it looks at before allowing a launch. So, I'm convinced it must be hiding in there somewhere...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

I totally agree. I've always wished for a 50-100mph, or similar, measurement that is meaningful for real world use.

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

Further thoughts on this. Lotus embeds a lot of info that can only be accessed through the Lotus dealer scan tool. I wonder if they've chosen proprietary pids for this info. Kitkat, does your Emira manual happen to show the service codes or pids that the Lotus scanner can access?

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

That's disappointing. Did you find coolant temp?
  9. KAR120C

    Oil temperature and pressure reading?

Oil Temp and Coolant Temp are standard ODBII PIDs. So, if anyone has an OBDII scanner and an Emira, maybe they could do a quick scan to see if they are getting readings. If you can read the PIDs, then there are lots of ways to get auxiliary gauges displayed, even if it's just a simple phone...

    Lotus Emira Financing/Lease Rates

I'm sort of in the fixed income stage of life, so it's super smart for me to buy as many cars as possible now before inflation makes my money worth less!

    Lotus Emira Financing/Lease Rates

I keep a finger on the scales so "new car" always wins. My wife says the first step to healing is to admit I have a car buying problem. I don't know what the second step is so I keep buying cars and repeating the first step. Working ok so far...

    V6 Particulate filter

I hate to resurrect this old thread, but... These early communications make it sound like there is no OPF/GPF for the V6, which is great. However, since the Emira’s arrival on the market, Milltek makes a OPF/GPF bypass pipe and at least one forum member has it installed, so the V6 sounds as...

I wish we had a mole in the Hethel production department to see if the NA cars have been loaded in the system yet. Or at least someone in the parts warehouse to see if US spec lights are on the shelves.

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

Thanks for the great roads! Even though I have to enjoy them vicariously through Google Earth, I love to see where you drive in Britain! Our recent trips have been for hiking and sightseeing. Someday I'd love to do a hardcore driving trip and hit these roads with a nice car. BTW, are radar...

Will the Emira fulfill my nimble-car dreams?

You're doing what a lot of us have done prior to ordering, which is to approach analysis paralysis. I did the same thing wondering if power would be comparable to the M2C. It isn't as powerful. This is strictly my opinion, but even though the power is less than some comparable cars, if you...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Yes, I think you've read that correctly. The assumption is that Lotus is now making cars closer to capacity than they have for the last year and they will be able to fulfill the order volume for today's deposits in 18 months. I'll make up some math. If they produce about 40 cars/day x 4...

You'll be able to order a black set from your dealer after the cars arrive. I'm probably going to do that on mine.

    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

Sport vs. Touring seems to be like discussing music, politics, or religion. Everybody has the one they like and their reasons why. I think the best thought processes I've heard seem to be around how good (or bad) your roads are, are you going to track it, and what car you are coming from...

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

Thanks for the replies! I'm also looking for what you guys PERSONALLY drive when you have one day to make it count. Sometimes those won't be on the 'greatest roads' lists, but are still fun for you! Oh, and I'm not planning a drive in Britain for myself right now. I'm just truly curious...

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

So you have your Lotus or other fun marque. Where are your favorite areas of Britain to have long spirited drives? I’ve driven crappy rentals in hilly areas of Wales, England, and Scotland and encountered fun roads, but only by accident going from point A to B. If you have a free day and want...

Help! Nimbus, tan interior, non-black wheels: Black, Red, Silver or Yellow Calipers

That's my spec. I went with black. They are brake calipers and stay dirty most of the time (at least on my cars).

Is the Tan leather less orange in real life?

I think it looks like the leather on a new baseball glove. Or a bit like BMW's Cognac leather.

    Does it rev match?

It was fine and a no brake downshift was a no brainer. But it still took me about 15 minutes to get consistent with heel and toeing on my 2nd test drive. I think it was mostly because of the brake. Under light braking I couldn't quite get it right. So I started braking a moment later and...

    Top speed…never ever!

It’s easier to have the Hp as well so you don’t have to do the math. HP exists to bring time into the power curve. Torque gives the instantaneous power and therefore acceleration. HP brings time into the equation which is useful when looking at top speed and ability to maintain that speed...

    Top speed…never ever!

That’s to show where peak HP occurs. I think it’s too simplistic but allows some easy comparison. I’d rather see the torque and hp curves to understand how the car will really operate. Is the power all down low then peters out? Or do you have to wring it out to redline to make it...

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

Our plant guide in March said Nimbus Grey was the most "switched to" color and "Shadow Grey" was the most "switched from" color. This car looks good in all the colors. You could flip a coin to decide and will always be a winner.

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

Yes and Yes. IMO, it shows the lines better. It's the most complex color that Lotus makes with different size aluminum flakes. It looks different in different light. With direct reflection it will look almost like chrome, and in other lighting look sort of bronze. Champagne is a good...
