Are any i4 owners considering an oil change after running in?

It's definitely a more attractive option if you can make use of some lifts. I suspect the oil drain is under the aluminium panels so there's also that work to consider too.

Are any i4 owners considering an oil change after running in?

I saw quite a few V6 owners have or plan to get the oil changed at ~1,000 miles. It's not an official service and they didn't mention it at collection. Given the AMG 2.0 is quite an exotic engine, is anyone considering it for peace of mind? It would be outside the 3 year service plan and judging...

    head lights with condensation

LOL - looks like they got their "they all do that" etched into the manual then :)

    head lights with condensation

I also spotted this after I washed it the other week. I've had other cars do the same and with the same "they all do that" response from the dealership to I won't bother mentioning it.

Why did you choose I4 over V6?

Interesting. Who was it that assured you of this? It would be good to know if there's an upgrade in the pipeline for us i4 owners. I'm still running in so far but I haven't found the shifts to be anything like as bad as the early reviews were saying.

    I4 inside the vehicle sound

I'm still running in so not able to experience going on/off boost at higher revs. To be honest I've not heard any whistle or dump value sounds so far but I'm hoping for more once I can go above 4,000 rpm. Mine sounds pretty similar to the video - quite bassy but no particular character that you...

    Race to the first i4

I know what you mean. I'm actually slightly disappointed I'm off on hols and will miss the next 2 weekends' driving! I'm envious of your location there. I can't wait to complete run-in and get out to the Peaks/Dales/Lakes for some proper driving.

    Brakes!

I have a similar feeling about the suspension. The i4 touring suspension definitely feels firmer than I remember from the V6 touring drive I had. Maybe it's just that the V6 drive was too long ago now to be objective.

    Brakes!

I find my i4 brakes quite sensitive too. I've needed to modify my braking somewhat to avoid throwing my passenger forward every time! I didn't notice it during the previous V6 test drive. The guy who did my PPF has done many Emiras in and he said mine was about average but there had been others...

    Creaking noise

Could be. Mine definitely only does it after a long drive. It seems OK when cold. Do you plan to get it looked at? I'm waiting to get through run in and then I'll speak to the service team about it.

    Japan - Navigation app recommendations?

In cases where I can't use data. I've found it helpful to use Google Maps and download offline maps in advance. This way you get navigation without data and the only thing you lose is real-time traffic info.

    i4 Emira vs Mercedes Cla 45 0-60mph

Yes, I agree - in optimal conditions there may not be much difference although the RS3 makes ~3.5secs 0-60. The rear tyres are very wide on the Emira too which should help.

    i4 Emira vs Mercedes Cla 45 0-60mph

Has anyone actually dynoed an i4 yet? It would be interesting to see if the 360 vs 400bhp difference really plays out on the rollers. I also have the latest edition RS3 which has around 400bhp so I will be able to do a subjective driver's test once I'm finally run in. The RS3 will be quicker off...

    Race to the first i4

Congratulations! I've very envious. Various commitments and a holiday mean I'm only about half way there so far. Hopefully I'll be done some time in May. My test drive was limited to 4,000 rpm for run in too so I've not experienced the full package yet. I have a feeling we will be going through...

    Race to the first i4

I agree. I'm still running in but I'm already 100% convinced I made the right choice hanging on for the i4. I test drove the V6 when it came out and I wasn't a fan. For me, the clutch was heavy and the shift was an acquired taste. There's a real Jekyll and Hyde personality between Tour and Sport...

How to select next / previous track when listening to music

Hi all, I've played around wtih the steering controls and looked in the manual but I don't see a way to skip to next or previous track. I would have expected it to be close to the volume controls but the cursors there only seem to control the centre dash display options. I usually listen to...

    Race to the first i4

That's interesting. Lotus don't have a running in service in their schedule and having scored the 3 year package with mine, I wasn't expecting to be spending any money on it. I'm no oil expert but that does look quite murky.

The engine fault light remains on.

I had this on my new i4 after the first drive. It remained so I took it to the dealership and they said the cause was "indeterminate". They reset it and so far it has not returned. The PPF detailer I used has had a lot of Emiras in and he said that many of them had the CEL lit. It seems to be a...

Mark's McCann LOTUS EMIRA INSANE Transformation! + Reaction

I think those kits work on performance saloon cars like the M3 because they make it stand out from the crowd. However, when you're starting with a bespoke sports car shape I don't think it's necessary. Lotus did such a good job that pretty much everything I've seen aftermarket seems to detract...

The only options listed on my final invoice were: £400 for black leather with yellow stitching and TDC marker £1,200 for Black pack I think there was a delivery charge rolled into the base price but I don't remember there being a charge for any colour choices, wheels or trim. This seems wrong...

Lotus breaks sales record, posts £594m loss

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-britishcars/lotus-breaks-sales-record-posts-594m-loss/48391 Seems like Lotus is going for broke. I hope they can carve out a path to better numbers in the future. Tesla had some eyewatering losses pre-2020 but they turned it around.

    Creaking noise

Thanks for the swift response Toby. This makes a lot of sense and it was my hope. Also, the detailer removed the bonnet panel as part of the PPF which is another possibility. I would happily take either as a quick fix over anything more significant like suspension parts! I just spoke to the...

    Creaking noise

Hi Andrea, did you get a resolution on the creaking noises? My new i4 also has creaking noises coming from the front of the car. It is most noticeable when going over speed bumps or uneven cambers like when I turn onto my drive at home. I don't think it's steering related as it also happens on...

    Race to the first i4

This was my first time too. We bought another car 18 months ago and it's already picked up some stone chips on the bonnet so I thought I'd got the extra mile with the Emira and protect it from the start. I had the front package plus doors done at All that Gleams in Surrey. They do a lot of...

    Race to the first i4

I dropped in to Lotus service today to get the CEL checked. They have reset the ECU and it's gone away. However, they were rather cagey about the code. All they would say is that it was "non-specific" and didn't point to any particular issue or sensor in their diagnostics. I will continue to...

Has anyone had the Check Engine Light come on? It wasn’t lit on collection but it came on yesterday evening and it’s been on throughout the drive to the PPF place this morning. Made for a nervous journey on the M25! I mentioned it to the PPF guy. They’ve done a load of V6 and I4 Emiras and he...

I read somewhere that the i4 Tour suspension setup is firmer than the V6. I test drove the V6 Touring over a year ago so I can't really compare. It feels well suited to our variable road quality here in the UK. I certainly wouldn't want it to be any firmer.

Narrow Single Garage parking aids/sensors or recommendations

Yes, a few people have suggested this. I must admit, I've never tried it with any of our cars. I get how the mirrors would really help in this regard. I guess I get the benefit of the mirrors when I'm reversing back out. I'm just not sure how much I trust myself with reversing in a straight...
