Exhaust System Upgrade Options Available for Turbo I4 AMG Engine Yet?

Agree, the downpipe is so obscenely large that the catalyst filament is really sucking up a lot of the natural noise. Frankly, all we need is an exhaust option that can still leverage the OE valve controller motor, but just flips between a larger than OE non-resonated pipe (for the closed valve...

3rd Cat Delete on Emira – Is the Milltek Valve Controller Really Necessary?

I don't believe this is accurate. There's a sticky somewhere that explains all of the driver modes with all the specifics. However, one of the specifics is that in sport or track, it partially opens when these modes are initiated(I believe about a 1/3 open). From there, it only remains at...

3rd Cat Delete on Emira – Is the Milltek Valve Controller Really Necessary?

It's never 100% open at idle/startup in any mode. However, in sport and track modes it does go from partially open at start-up to fully open at a predefined rpm threshold. I personally, like the OE functionality. With that said, the partial opening in sport and track modes under the RPM...

LA service price is too high

Harry is a great resource, worked on many of my cars (Evora, Alfa 4c, Carrera T). He hasn't worked on the Emira yet, but that's only because I always use my dealer (Lotus of SD) for the first couple of years to ensure I have a good rapport with them. Also, my i4 seems to always have software...

LA service price is too high

@T6061 I am curious as to your personal experience with the scheduling, completeness of work, cleanliness of the car when picked up including what was left under the engine under tray (which you won't know unless you look at it afterwards and remove it), etc. I personally, did not get the warm...

    Fixing a flat tire

This. Regular street/highway driving, maybe even a little mountain backroad driving, should be good. However, track work should be off-limit. Let's just say the price of a tire (for that matter, the price of all 4) is a better deal than the possible outcome of testing that plug on a track.

VF Tuner for the Lotus Emira

Agree, I also wish we had a flag/tag we could add to our profiles that made it obvious what variant we each have. For now, we should all try to remember to be more explicit about what engine we are referring to whenever we speak on anything that is engine specific.

    Los Angeles Canyon Meet

A few people are going up tomorrow. BTW, GVBC is better served early AM. On a busy day (like tomorrow), you'll want to be at the base of the mountain around 7AM to be at Newcomb's by 7:30 given by 8AM it'll be a s h i t show.

Fastest Emira in Real World: V6 Auto?!

That would be a typo. The V6 Auto, is in fact the slowest Emira variant made.

Today's Financial Times | Carmaker Lotus plans to end production in the UK

This. BTW, Journalists have been saying "Lotus is dead", frankly since the "90's". Personally, I'm hoping their accuracy stays consistent (i.e., wrong to date...).

How are you cleaning inside the rear bumper vents?

this is in reference to air intake vents and the engine compartment for purposes of keeping electronics safe and large amounts of water out of the intake. The rear bumper vents get drenched in the rain. So, no worries there.

Newbie: Considering a switch - 911 to Emira

I went from a Carrera T (991.2 w/ CF buckets, PDK, Sunroof delete, Contrasting Stitch Carrera T interior) to an Emira (i4 Sport). I would tell you they are very different cars. The T was supposed to be a more raw 911 and in many ways it was, but it's still closer to a GT than a sports car...

    The great black roof dilemma...

I did this with my Alfa 4c. My Emira came with the black pack, but I agree, having the option to do either is kind of cool. One of our other forum members actually wrapped his Emira's roof with a CF wrap. So, going with the body colored roof gives you lots of options.

    Streetable track tires

I ran the Cup 2R on my Carrera T. The grip increase compared to the Porsche Spec Cup 2 was noticeable. Also, they heated up fast and held up well. Biggest complaint was they picked up marbles like crazy on dirty tracks Also, the real wear rate was comparable to the Cup 2's (got about 85/90%...

    M139 engine production to sunset?

This might be more about the author jumping to a conclusion than a factual position from MB. The article is really about the hybrid version of this engine which we don't have. Sounds like author speculation to me. Until MB AMG come out and say the M139 (non-hybrid, ICE only iteration) is...

    Anyone straight pipe their exhaust?

Loved my evora, but it didn't have an electronic valve to contend with. The good old days of vacuum line operated exhaust valves.
  25. F

    Anyone straight pipe their exhaust?

Except this version takes out the downpipe as well (i.e., this starts all the way up on the turbo). I think @docron was considering starting from the downpipe exit which is where all the aftermarket exhausts begin.
  26. F

    Anyone straight pipe their exhaust?

@docron Do it, do it, do it! BTW, I had the dual exit Y Magnaflow on my 4c and the sound was indeed glorious. My only rub with it was the "Y" connector kept cracking even after being re-designed a couple of times, but it was all about the sound!

emira steering wheel button group buy

Apex Wheels Survey for Emira (and Evora) Owners

For sure, but you should really research the weight of the 19" tire you are considering. It's a bit counter intuitive, but the weight you save (usually ounces, maybe a pound at best) from going to a smaller diameter wheel (remember, aluminum is light!), you will more than make up in the...

    Anyone with HRE's?

Thanks, this is good insight. BTW, I knew the flow form wheels were not US made, but did not know about the fully forged blanks. Frankly, really disappointing given what they charge per wheel. My personal wheel of choice would be the Lightweight R101, but not at $3k+ a wheel ($12K+ for a set).
  34. F

    Anyone with HRE's?

The Chinese writing on the box in the pic above should have been the first hint. HRE is located in the greater San Diego CA area. The reason they are so expensive (besides their extensive wheel manufacturing and design experience) is because they are in fact made stateside.

    Poll: I4 Sand Contamination

If you had this, you would have an engine light. As far as normal operating temp, I've been operating at 185 degrees on the low-end, 195-197 on the higher end with an occasional 200 degree pop then quickly goes down to 195-197.
