Modifications for track usage certainly have value. But for street use only, typically its money down the drain.

The most important measure of a car is how it makes you feel. That said there's easily two seconds in the tire difference between the Cup 2' and the Eagle F1's. i4's DCT is probably worth another few tenths around a track...But it sounds like a hoover vacuum. Also lap times are meaningless...

You’re probably right. 400hp i4 will be faster but The i4 falls flat on the ears. The sound is uninspiring. Reving out the engine is such an important part of the experience. I wouldn’t own an i4 because of the lackluster engine sound. But others mileage might vary.

Just watched the review and my feeling is the guys REALLY wanted to give Lotus and the Emira a stellar review...but just couldn't b/c of the production quality and reliability issues that have been addressed here on the forum extensively. They were almost BEGGING Lotus to get its act...

Just one issue with EV's. They are too heavy for existing highway infrastructure and safety systems. Weight isn't just a safety issue...EV's are causing increased and accelerated wear on highways, potholes etc. Not to mention the carbon footprint required to mine all the battery materials...

I agree the "boutique" sales network isn't ideal for a brand that wants to go mainstream...Volvo is owned by Geely so if they wanted to make Volvo a Lotus service provider (not dealer) I don't think Volvo would be able to say no.

Geely bought Lotus for one primary reason - Brand recognition. Geely thought they could leverage the name and reputation of a company with a storied F1 history and niche sports car market and turn it into mass market auto manufacturer. Its pretty clear that Geely wanted to RAPIDLY morph Lotus...

Emira in Production

Having bought, owned and sold a GT recently, pristine models (6 spd) with low miles, carbon pack and desirable colors are changing hands privately in the high 80's, low-mid 90's. Evoras that end up on BaT aren't necessarily the best of the bread...Plus buyers are eating nearly 5K in auction fees.

I think the Evora GT you mentioned on BaT was priced right given the weird color combo. I wouldn't go so far as to say its ugly...but its right next door to ugly. It was definitely spec'ed to someones very unique tastes.

For comparison, please use a decibel meter at a fixed distance from the exhaust and in the cabin at WOT and cruising at Highway speeds. Its sometimes hard to "hear" the difference on a video....but the decibel meter gives a good reading of increased volume and how much "drone" can be expected...

I know it shouldn't but It kinda makes me mad that someone ordered, took delivery, and is now selling while the rest of us are still waiting.
