I just did 3000 miles in my s2 exige in 10 days - s3 exige is more hospitable from what I have been told - no issues for me.. seats are super comfy (carbon) and you just take the roof off :)

He was more positive on the white prototype car than he was on his written EVO review, so my question would be what has changed... he drove the touring with Goodyear tyres in prototype form, and the the sport plus Goodyear for his EVO one.. interested to hear what he has to say in the video...

That’s up to you…. I believe them in this case knowing a couple of folks with connections to the automotive business and the hell that are emissions. I have had my exige since 2005 and it’s still an event to drive after all those years… I am confident Emira will be the same…

This…. My brother had the same from more than one Porsche dealer. Re EVO, I was the same and had the same reason for stopping my subscription… From other posts.. On the 416Hp and 7k… remember.. this had to be reduced to meet emissions - this has been said a few times, but folks seem to forget…...

Tom did say they are making some updates to the production cars… so maybe that isn’t final spec

Definitely (on the Friday) - I would say it was one of the busiest... Porsche and BMW of course were also busy but no more than Lotus..

And another shout out to Scott Walker who is a legend and actually has kept my faith in Lotus alive.. the guy lives and breathes the brand and will always try his best even if the rest of the organisation isn't supporting him

Just so you know.. my Exige s2 has a gearshift very similar - it has a very positive shift and isn't rubbery like some car's - you feel it go into gear - its a Lotus 'trait'. Its just that most people are not used to it, so find it a bit strange at first... In my Exige, I love it

I was at a track 'test' day when Porsche had just launched the 993 and Daley was there - I was first at the scene when he had buried one in the armco... luckily he was ok and had a great sense of humour about it.. not sure if Porsche did though.....

Well... and the Porsches are criticised for exactly the same thing... in fact Harry M said the Porsche is louder... I come from an Exige s2 (just did 3000 miles in 10 days in it.. road noise is mute (excuse the pun)

And actually Jethro says the engine note to a spectator at Anglesey would think its an F8 Tributo on the noise front - so much for the boring V6....

You should hear the v6 noise bouncing off of those hills..... :)

I also find it interesting that Catchpole and Top Gear were complimentary about the goodyears when they test vp007, and now they are an issue... hmmmmm

right - and as always everything is a compromise - for me it was gearbox vs the theatre and noise of the v6 - the noise won - and every time I am in a tunnel or a mountain pass, I will know why I went v6... If acrapovic can't make the amg sound good, I am not sure Lotus will - maybe they will...

and interestingly he doesn't talk about the gear change when they discuss manuals at length... I think his issue seems to lie with the LSD...

They are willing to put up with the compromises as it makes them feel good driving it… I have every confidence that the emira will do the same

I did try the alpine.. and was left a little flat.. the exhaust crackles were almost scripted, it did flow down the road for sure, but the interior was terrible… it has a 1990’s stalk for volume on the steering column and touch volume on a very slow infotainment. The dct is good, and I did enjoy...

Very true… but I don’t feel trapped into it I guess as I did when I spec’d a Cayman

I know there is a lot of emotion and discussion now reviews are out.. but one thing I know is that I don’t want a Porsche… I find them very capable but too sterile and lacking character in the main… I haven’t driven a GT4 or 911 GT product though. I also don’t like the way all the reviewers...

Right… still have that podcast to listen to…. For me I just don’t want the Porsche as it slips quietly by unnoticed knowing I had to pay 20k on options to make it resellable

What also makes me laugh is that every other time the Cayman is driven, they complain about the long gearing and here it was forgotten... Carlow, Autotrader and Harry like the gearshift, and I reckon the Autocar test car probably needed new fluid after someone else had killed the brakes on track...

The thing that jumps at me the most actually isn't the review by Evo - its the inconsistency of the brake pedal if anything - Autocar and Evora don't like the gear change, Harry and Autotrader do... some pedals are offset, some are perfect. The engine is old, but it has character.... Summary -...

Why I gave up my Evo subscription... it has become a bit shit recently - and seems very influenced from outside..

John Barker is always negative on Lotus - remember his comments on the v6 Exige and Evora..

Remember Catchpole said it feels like a lotus and I trust his view more than this for sure…

well at least we don't all have to stay up until midnight on the 6th/7th for the UK folks.. lunchtime viewing for us and morning reading for the NA folks... Our Australian members may have to set an alarm :)
