This car is the prettiest DISAPPOINTMENT I’ve ever seen. From the disrespectful sales people, there standoffish approach to talk about the car, and the fact that my drive time was eaten up by some random child who wanted to sit in the car and take pictures…...
The Hethel Yellow Emira (was 1st shown at the WCLM a few weeks ago) is at Boardwalk Lotus through Tuesday. It will then be shown at Los Gatos on Weds & Thurs (11/16 & 11/17) and ends it's Bay Area tour at Lotus SF on Friday & Saturday (11/18 & 11/19). Drives are by appointment (check with...
Monterey Car Week - Aug 16-21. Expect Lotus to have a stand at the Quail show (sold out) and possibly at Pebble on Saturday-Sunday. IF Bay Area dealer visits happen it will be the following week (big maybe).
Note: Lotus has shown at The Quail for the intro of the Evija (2019) and Emira (2021)...
Lotus will be showing in Monterey during Car Week. Expect to see the Emira, Evija and possibly Eletre. Dealers are scheduled to receive demo cars around November (rumor & subject to production delays).
Who knows, it might happen as more manufacturers as the trend is to go direct to consumers. The only barrier for Mattel and specifically Hot Wheels is the $1 USD price point isn't conducive for on-line retail (think the cost of freight v. goods).

Hey Mick!
Mattel doesn't sell direct to consumers, only through distribution and retailers. Typically Hot Wheels are sold in an assorted case lot, not by individual models. There are a few retailers & distributors that will purchase case lots and then break out and sell the cars by individual...
and... Target or Walmart are unlikely to tack on additional dealer markup. We expect to pay MSRP. Also, neither retailer is accepting deposits at this time. Don't expect any call for when your car will be built. You'll just need to go into the stores and purchase. ;););)

Mattel has not stated. However, here's a list of the 250 models to be released in 2022-2023. The Evija is listed at 229 and the Emira has yet to get a designation.

Mattel announced the release of a Lotus Emira as a part of their 2022 series. Also on the list of releases is a Lotus Evija.

Double A-arm suspension occupies a great deal of space when compared to strut components. Porsche's struts is a big advantage for packaging. Personally, I'd rather have the far superior A-arm suspension, especially up front.

Production delays are not only supply chain issues, but also due to COVID related travel restrictions. Travel restrictions prevented Lotus personnel and cars from travelling abroad for track and road testing/development. This was the case for both Emira and Evija testing.

Unfortunately the Emira dealer tour in Nov-Dec 2021 didn't stop in the Bay Area. The west coast leg of the fall tour stopped in Vegas, Seattle & LA. Also, in Aug 2021 the Emira has it's North American introduction during Monterey Week at the The Quail show (see photo). Finally, we've been told...

A few photos of the event.
This is the same car driven by Jenson Button on track at Hethel & Laguna Seca. It is pre-production, but it is being updated with new parts as they are finalized. Noted were a couple of updated interior trim bits (nothing major, just refinements).

The biggest change you'll see going from FWD to RWD is the car's reaction to the throttle. In gross generalization then -
FWD
> more throttle = more understeer and the front end rotates LESS
> less throttle = less understeer and the front end rotates MORE
RWD
> more throttle = the rear rotates...
Thanks for the addition of the poll. However small nit, there are a few like me that are excluded from the poll as "currently own a Lotus" is inaccurate... because we own MORE than one Lotus and in many cases have owned over the years many more! Further proving that "Lotus" is a chronic disease...
I suggest taping your jaw closed during your initial in person visit with the Emira. It will save you the embarrassment of having drool covering the front of your shirt! :)

Hi Peter,
One of my fears coming from the photos that the Emira would look too much like the Evija and potentially make the Evija look less "special". Seeing the two cars side by side vanquished my apprehension instantly. While there's design elements from the Evija in the Emira, the Emira is...
