Turns out that there is a drawback to all the wonderful "porosity" that the Lotus design and engineering team wanted!

I think this is a USA regulatory thing? My car doesn't have this label, only the label with the tyre pressure information.

    Lotus Boss Quits

    1. Coventry (LTCC) is a state of the art design centre that was opened in 2019. It has four full studios and over 100 designers, engineers and modellers. It makes sense for Lotus to move to one consolidated design department instead of two. 2. The TYP 135 conceptual design will be largely...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

This. Teijin Automotive was chosen as the panel manufacturer because they had a resin formula that uses less Calcium Carbonate. Lotus hoped this would prevent micro cracks that cause paint pops and blistering. Teijin Automotive Technologies’ Ultra Lite technology uses proprietary, treated...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Bugger. That sucks. I keep nervously checking mine but (after a year) so far so good. Is it on the door? That seems to be the most common location for these blisters.

    Lotus Boss Quits

Spot on. I've always thought they should have started with a hybrid Macan competitor.

Not good. A clear vote of no confidence in the future of Lotus from an insider who knows what's going on.

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Well, just go and take the factory tour. It may not last, but at the moment they are running the Emira lines at something close to capacity. BTW, I agree with you that Lotus has got serious issues. I think they've screwed up the BEV strategy and it will probably fail, and the rollout of Emira...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

Sorry, but that's totally wrong. Emiras are "flying off the production line." Hethel is working at capacity to meet the still significant backlog of orders. The problem is that they never expected to need a bunch of extra doors and they don't want to mess up the already delayed production...

    Steering wheel noise when turning

Possibly, but yours is so much worse that it's hard to tell if it's the same thing.

    Steering wheel noise when turning

Yes, sounds like the same thing. It tends to happen if I turn the wheel quickly but I don't think it has to reach all the way to the bumpered stop. Wil check next time.

    Steering wheel noise when turning

Has anyone else experienced a noise from the steering wheel while turning? I notice it most in car parks when turning fairly tightly. I'd describe it as a flat clicking (clacking?) noise like two bits of plastic snapping against each other or a piece of plastic cracking.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

But isn't everything you're describing here the dealer, not Lotus Cars? The problem with the US dealership model is that the manufacturer has their hands completely tied . . . the dealers have massive legally protected power so they can get away with this stuff.

Why would you buy a new Emira in the UK?

Would one interpretation of this article be that UK Lotus dealers are buying up Emiras being offered for sale on CarWow in order to maintain a minimum floor under market prices? "Although it’s a niche model, dealers have already acquired 13 Lotus Emiras via our auction platform this quarter..."

    Emira interior design inspiration

I was interested to read that Jennifer Andriamamonjy who came up with the interior design concept for the Emira was inspired by the Esprit Series 1. You can actually see the influence when you compare her design sketches with the old Esprit. I've always felt that the low passenger side...

Probably pulling the trigger in CA next week: seeking wisdom of the hive...

My two cents: -- The core mechanicals of the Emira (Toyota engine, supercharger, gearbox, etc) are well proven and generally reliable. I wouldn't expect to experience serious problems in these areas. So far, software (fixable) and blistering body panels (much harder to fix but limited to a...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

There are thousands of owners on this forum and most haven't bothered to respond to the poll at all. You can be pretty confident that all the members with paint blistering have responded . . . so the poll does not represent a realistic picture of the overall ownership group. I'm not arguing...

Poll for Those with Paint Blistering / Bubbling Defect

What's that quote? 'There are lies, damn lies, and statistics". The poll only shows 14 cars with blisters. Yes, it's 19% of the poll responses, but it's only a tiny fraction of the thousands of Emiras that have been manufactured. You can't reasonably conclude that anything like 20% of Emiras...

Source? It's certainly still available on the UK configurator. The FEV6 is finished and the factory is focusing on clearing the i4 backlog, but I've heard nothing to suggest that the base V6 is finished in the UK.

    Lotus introduces ‘Lotus Chapman Bespoke’

I've been closely following the Lotus Technology journey for about three years and over time I've become extremely skeptical. Lotus doesn't have the brand power to sell in volume at the price point they want for Electre and Emeya. On top of that, they're 5+ years too early for 100% BEV. They...

    Lotus introduces ‘Lotus Chapman Bespoke’

Lotus views Emira as a "runout model" that keeps the brand in the sports car market over the next three years until the TYP 135 is ready. The 100% priority in Hethel now is ensuring that the TYP 135 is a massive success when it launches in 2027.

That makes sense. I don't think any of the FE2 colours are available "second hand" yet.

Why would you buy a new Emira in the UK?

Sincere question for the Brits on this forum (I promise I'm not stirring): why on earth would you accept delivery of a new V6 Emira from Lotus at the moment? There are 73 cars available for sale in the UK with low or delivery miles and prices as low as £66,000. Surely any rational person...

    Does the car scrape easily?

The Emira does not scrape easily. I've had 911s, BMW 1M, etc and they all scraped much more easily.

Bugger. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it's a straight forward part failure.

What can I do about Tiny Pedals, Huge Blind Spot and Touchy Brakes?

Agree, I've had my Emira for about a year and there's no question that the brakes are grabby compared to something like a 911 or an M3. You learn to manage it and they work damn well when you need them.
