Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

It would defo be conceivable that they just put the £90k on the video to make the sound good (for views) and that TH actually paid the £86k. I can't see them bothering for £5k pre-tax profit if they get £95k for it, which I doubt they will.

The great big "all the customer test drives" thread

It was my second test drive today - a test drive that I 'needed' to decide the fate of my order and anyone who has read my post in the 'cancellations' thread, will know that I'm right on the edge of pulling the plug. I'm sorry, there's no short version and sorry Emiraspain but no cake either...

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Oh, the dilemma. I've been on this journey since the launch at Goodwood 2021 - when stocks were sky high, interest rates were rock bottom and everyone was on cloud-nine after emerging from the doomsday of Covid. Life was good and the sun was beating down on that Seneca Blue Emira sitting on the...

Ahh, but we all know you'll be going AWOL a week or 2 before the next one arrives 😂

Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

So we've had about 90 (?) cars delivered in the UK. 12 or 13 currently for sale in the public domain and at least 3 already re-sold, plus who knows how many have changed hands out of the public eye....Wow!

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Just because you don't believe it doesn't mean it's not the truth. There wouldn't be much conversation on here if we had to fact check everything that was commented on.

I think from a legal standpoint relating to Consumer Law, if the car has a significant fault when you bought it, then you have the right to a refund within the first 30 days. If the paint is bad enough for Lotus to delay the delivery (with no notice), then I guess that qualifies as a fault.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I think the distance selling rules have some caveats. As I understand it, if a car is built to a specific spec that you've chosen (as apposed to one that you don't personally spec) then the distance selling rules don't apply. However, I still think you have the right to cancel for a full refund...

I think under consumer law he has the right to reject the car as it’s faulty. So Lotus would have to return the money I think!

Defo not a 0-60 car, that's for sure! If he does take it on CarWow then it could be embarrassing TBF

That's how I understand it to be too. And, as someone who made a deposit prior to the video, I expect the price to be honoured.

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I agree, there's no guarantee with anything at Lotus but if Matt Windle's video link that was sent directly to early depositors, stating that he personally guaranteed that the price we were quoted was the price we'd pay, does not stand up, then I for one will be walking away.
  14. D

I'm out - the cancellations thread

Judging by what TomE has been told re his order, it seems that you go to the back of the queue and you don't get a guarantee on the price. Although Tom has also mentioned that he is still waiting for a definitive answer on this, I believe.

First Dark Verdant Emira delivered in the Netherlands

I used to think that we were hard done by in the UK but so many other countries have taxes at a level that would leave me driving a Golf rather than an Emira!!

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

And, me! Pretty much summed up everything we've learnt from the early car owners on here and gave a few interesting insights into more mundane parts of the car that don't normally become apparent until you own one. The only new negatives that I could pick from it was that the plastic areas to...

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

If you can afford the monthly payments then technically it’s within your means. And if you can afford higher monthly payments but don’t have £80k in cash then HP is a far cheaper way to borrow. 😉

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

Obviously that’s worst case scenario as the ‘option to buy’ will be set unrealistically low by Lotus but certainly opens your eyes if you really delve too deep into the costs!
  21. D

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

Sorry, I should've explained a bit better. The loan is always based on the full cost of the car (plus interest) minus your deposit. Then the 'option to buy' is taken off the overall payments. So in the example you've shown here £79,515 Cost of car £20,200 Deposit £59,315 Remaining balance...

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

The higher the 'option to purchase' the lower the monthly payments because with a PCP you basically pay the depreciation during the loan period. So if the car is £80k and the future value after 4 years is £60k then you pay £20k plus interest over 4 years. If the future value is £70k then you...

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

In principal they are a bit of a ripoff but it allows your average buyer who hasn't got £80k in cash to buy a car that would normally be unattainable for an affordable monthly payment. The balloon is always set in favour of the finance company and so the real future value is almost always more...

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

Just checked back and the tool is now live again 👍🏻 Also the balloon payment has increased meaning the finance is cheaper and Lotus must be predicting stronger residuals

I found it quite a useful feature as I could keep an eye on any changes Lotus made to balloon payments etc. to monitor their anticipated future values

Finance tool disappeared from Lotus website (Edit - Now working)

That's not the bit I was referring too. You could previously input all of your spec and then go into a finance tab on the configurator and adjust your term/deposit amount etc. and it would give you a specific breakdown of the costs, rather than a 'finance example' like the one you've linked

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I’m sorry Tom but the nature of discussion means that things occasionally go off topic. Understandably, if they start to ruin a thread by going too deep ‘off topic’ for too long then maybe they should be deleted, but 3 posts about Covid don’t deserve an ‘off topic’ deletion IMO

I'm out - the cancellations thread

I kind of get it if the thread goes totally off topic for ages - which this didn't - MANY other threads went way off topic and weren't deleted. But it seems like censorship in this case.

Matt Windle interview with Car and Driver

I can't really comment specifically as I'm certainly not a Lotus 'insider'. I just know what I get told and who is reliable with their information. I don't have any reason to believe the I4 won't come to fruition but there are clearly some issue getting Type approval (amongst other things)...

What's the first mod you did or plan to do for your Emira?

I really want to remove my front plate when I get the car as it makes the front end far more slick but I think I'd have to fill the holes for OCD purposes 😂

Anyone else noticed this? You used to be able to go in a play about with different deposit amounts and specs to see how that affected your monthly payments etc. But now all they seem to have is a generic finance example. 🧐
