I think the lowered Emira’s look weird with the wheel edge at the top of the arch and the slides of the arch at the normal distance. Not a fan of such a big drop.
Well this is the i4 thread and Lotus have not shipped any customer i4's to the UK yet. The first were to China and are en route and will be the first to get into customers hands I believe later this month.
The i4 going to Goodwood for next weekend will be the first public showing of an i4 so we...
I confirmed the spec 3rd May but had already made a second deposit just after the paleolithic era (feels like it anyway ). My original order was 9pm on 8th July 2021. No other formal commitment yet, I believe I can still pull out if I wished - - - - I do not wish.
I parked next to a Magma in T3 short stay last Monday. My car is a Tesla (still waiting) but my work colleague who knows I ave one coming was very impressed
I suspect you are correct, I am early as well 8/7/21 and although not in the very first run am still estimated a Sept build around the time of the demo cars. We have been able to test drive at least, just not the correct engine.
That is frustrating. My build was supposed to be Sept and I was just behind the very earliest i4 deliveries. Not sure if this means another month later or more? I am trying to ignore the car and the delays but it is hard.
I suspect the numbers produced do not justify the cost of a fully automatic or even mostly automatic production line. I have no clue how much a robotic station costs but I suspect 7000 cars a year is not even close to paying for them especially with a fairly short life span of the Emira.
We have been told by Tom and a few others that Lotus do read the forums but do not post here with a couple of rare exceptions.
There have also been a couple of self claimed factory workers usually posting negative stuff - Mr D included - that disappear fairly fast. I suspect these are trolls...
Thanks to all for the clarification on Takt times. I was not trying to compare Lotus with Toyota in any meaningful way. Other car makers also have very short Takt times, I believe the MINI is around 50 seconds.
Well for a start they are not doing that. You can still use your ICE as long as you like, nobody is "binning" billions of cars. Gov are doing what gov always do and that is incentivise change and then legislate for change. When it involves an evolving technology that complicates things but you...
I had a brief web-chat with Lotus today to ask for an update on i4 test drives. Sadly from last months rather positive booking in May for June test drive date this has slipped to July/August :-(
Magma was one of my main option for colour until I saw it. It was not what I was looking for in a red car and reinforced the SB choice but with DV as choice number 2
Did not pop for me especially on a winters day in Norfolk.
Yes it was validated by the MOd team here a few weeks ago, here is the original thread link

I think the status changed as soon as we confirmed the spec. So no I dont think they are really in production but we have heard that i4 production has started albeit for China
Yeah, it is part of the right of passage for a prospective Emira owner. Been there done that.
Recommend you join up a macca forum and read some of the stories on there. Can be a very expensive car to own. It is a proper supercar with associated expenses.
If I was twice as rich I would still...
So as the first confirmation emails have gone out for the i4 and I have confirmed my spec with one small change, the excitement can start to build. Who will be the first i4 delivery/pickup? I am early but not the earliest I think. July 8th 2021. Last build date update was Sept 2023.
Are we...
Just had a look at changing my spec and the configurator does not have the new colours yet. Was not going to change to a new colour but I had been advised that I would be able to.
No they do not test the cars on that track. They have a separate test area and the car doesn't get much above 15mph. It has lumps and bumps and is mainly to check for creaks and squeaks and basic functions work.
Where are you staying and I will suggest some nearby and not so nearby. Off the top of my head and a recent experience was an amazing Italian near London Bridge station called Giuseppe's http://www.giuseppesplace.com/. You must book and it is not especially expensive but the most amazing...
There are thousands. London is one of the best dining cities in the world. What is your pleasure? Chop House, French, Italian, Chinese, Thai, North African, Michelin 1, 2 or 3 star, casual pop ups, Tapas, etc etc. Budget?
I have usually gone on Friday as you get most of the activities and it used to be quieter but these days Friday is just as busy. I have never been on a Thursday but it looks like they have a full program now so it should be fine. If I was visiting for the first time and had an interest in older...
Best way is by helicopter but failing that then driving is a great way to go. Lots and lots of free parking. Get there early, parking opens at 6.30 and gates open at 7am and there is usually a queue.
