Anyone nervous about street-parking their future Emira?

Well, at some point, the risk of damage when parking outside just becomes part of life. I still remember freaking out when my first car ('98 Chrysler Sebring Coupe, nothing exciting by you guys' standards clearly) got a tiny dent in the bumper. Thinking back it was no biggie at all. But as a...

Watson did have a 3.6S 0-60 time on the A45S. So it could bode well for the i4 Emira.

    No Emira for me 😕

IMHO, as long as your intention when first ordering the car was to own it for a decent amount of time, then it does not count as "flipping". Plans change and people move on. There is no shame in getting a fair market value for it.

    Anyone got any project cars?

Have ordered some 20" Maybach style wheels and new Pirellis for my W218. But they are sitting in a repair shop for months due to COVID situation. Can't wait to get them up and running.

    Eletre.... good bad..

Can't be further from the truth though. The Chinese love Porsche, BBA and Toyota. Lotus has very few followers in the central kingdom.

    Eletre.... good bad..

Probably true, but as long as they tickle the taste buds of a certain clientele, who will turn away money?

    Eletre.... good bad..

Honestly I am a bit underwhelmed. Clearly this was Urus inspired but the Urus is much sharper. As you can see, both are based on a SUV coupe form but if you take away the porosity and the front facia, the Lotus is almost a bit GENERIC/BLAND. Don't forget the Urus went through...

How many Evijas have been sold?

You bring up a few good points. It's not that EV hyper car segment is a hard sell. It's just so new that we don't really know how to react to it just yet. Not to mention a relatively cheap Model Y Performance can do 0-100 in 3.6 seconds. My feeling is that the brand image of a hypercar is...

How many Evijas have been sold?

If they reach a certain volume, yes. But if we are talking about a few hundred of those, I imagine the cost is pretty staggering per vehicle. That being said, conceptually they should be able to allocate some of that cost to the Emira which is bound to sell at least 20,000 units I imagine.

How many Evijas have been sold?

And how many do you think will have been sold when all is said and done? Wouldn't it be a bit awkward if they end up selling very few of these? Reason I am asking is that I feel the brand cannot really support the kind of pricing so I am curious from a business/branding perspective what...

Now that reviews are out is anyone having 2nd thoughts about Emira ?

For those getting the i4 version, here is a quick link for your reference by your old pal M. Watson. The 1550kg A45S was able to do a one-handed 0-60 on a track that was "a little bit damp" in 3.65s. So I will remain hopeful about the i4 model.

Hethel Yellow Lotus Emira Photo Thread

Generally "complementary colors" work better with each other. See the complementary colors chart below. https://i0.wp.com/blog.closetomyheart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/colorwheel8.jpg?resize=561%2C561&ssl=1 That said, the tan seats look very nice and when you are sitting in the car you...

    Curveball

I'd advise against it. The Emira will be a much more desirable car than the Evora, even after taking into consideration the less favorable reviews. Lotus will get way more orders for the Emira than for the Evora. One would normally almost always want to buy the newer model from the same...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

I wish I was in a position to do that... but the best car I had laid my hands on was an SL55 w/ 490hp (0-100 in 4.5s despite the V8). The Emira seems to be a winner then. Not to mention you will never be caught with a vertically stuck roof.

    Compromises

A bit off topic but there is no car, not even a LeFerrari or Bugatti Chiron, that is worth working 115 hrs/w for. I work 50 hrs/w (used to work 80hrs a week at the peak) and my mental and physical wellbeing suffers. But hey don't let me stop you.

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

Honestly, I am getting very close to being annoyed/tired/numb at the comparison with Porsche at this point. Porsches are becoming the VWs of sports cars (well, they are also literally owned by VW or vice versa, and literally evolved from a friggin' beetle). Everyone and their grandma has...

Now that reviews are out is anyone having 2nd thoughts about Emira ?

Still all in as I ordered the AMG version... Re the manual, I regret to say that the reviews are pretty much what I expected. After all, it's based on a "seasoned" Camry engine. Fortunately for me, as we live in an age when machines are increasingly more capable than humans, especially...

    Competitors

Thanks for asking. Some are not exactly competitors to the Emira but I have a thing for elegant GT coupes. Continental GT, Aston Vanquish (especially the Zagato wagon) , the S coupe. the SLS and SLR Also would lay my hands of these if I had the extra cash: The Hennessey Venom The Corvette...

    Emira Wheel Gap Discussion

As the average American consumes 2.4 hamburgers per day, that adds up to 70K burgers over a lifetime (US$350K)... Not to mention the deviation on a hamburger is probably 5-10 times more than that of the Emira.

    Emira Wheel Gap Discussion

True, if you are trying to find out the official ride height for the production model. But I was not doing that. I was merely responding to someone's question in the thread: "...does the yellow car look like its sitting lower than the Green?" The answer was, "yes the yellow is sitting 2/3...

    Emira Wheel Gap Discussion

The calculation was done based on the ratio between the rim-to-fender distance against the rim diameter. If you thought I just literally took the number of pixels and converted into a measurement, that's not the case at all. In terms of pixels, the gap on the green car is more than double...

Verdant Green Emira now showing on Lotus Driving Academy website!
