    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

I suppose I was referring to the feeling of being "beaten up" due to the harshness and rigidity of the whole setup. When going around a bend in wet conditions, for example, it appears more difficult to retain traction.

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

Sure. Might be worth looking into. That said, last I ordered anything from Lotus (ie the car itself) it took 2.5 years.

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

It would, except ordering parts from the UK will likely be a rather time consuming (and potentially costly) solution at this point.

    That's exactly right. Thank you.

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

Maybe “bouncy" is not the best way to describe this. What I meant was due to the rigid suspension, wheels tend to lose traction and go all over the place when hitting little potholes, bumps, seams, joints and other irregularities in roads. They do not "hug" the road as well. Of course on a...

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

Yes indeed it's on Cup2s. Will do some research on this solution.

Is Vivid Red too "Ferrari" looking?

Don't worry about it. Red is a main color of nature (hence the "R"BG scale) and is not monopolized by any single car brand. Plus Ferrari is actually moving away from red, because fewer Ferraris sold these days are red than in earlier years.

    Bad News for China Sales??

China's EV market has been ridiculously crowded lately (Geely itself has over a dozen new models this coming year alone), plus 2023 marks the major fallout between men and women which has hit all luxury goods sectors including diamonds, cosmetics and luxury vehicles.

    My predicament on suspension/tires/comfort

The sport suspension on my 'Mira has turned out a bit too bouncy for my taste on real world roads, and am trying to to decide among 3 options: A. Get 255/35/20-305/30/20 tires and get 3-4mm extra tire height. Probably won't do very much, and will raise the (already rather high) ride height by...

    Emira looks

Isn't the Emira essentially a baby Evija rather than a fake Ferrari? I have never heard anyone say the Evija is a knockoff Ferrari. The Emira is prettier than the Evora/Elise/Exige by a wide margin. People will just have to deal with it.

    Goodyear or Michelin durability ???

Dont mean to revive a super old thread but i had to drive 1000 miles through 0 degree wheather with a bit of snow to my parents house for the holidays and had a pretty scary experience with my cup2s. When changing lanes over white lines slippage was obvious and it got a bit hairy a couoke of...

quick question - do you normally worry about rim rubbing or tire rubbing in this situation?

2026 will be last year for Emira. Sad news.

Interestingly, the Emira seems more attractive than the Lotus EVs to many.

    Chinese First Osmium Silver 2.0T

Geely's brands empire is going nuts. I own a Lynk&co 09 which apparently shares Volvo XC90's chassis while the 09 also shares many buttons and parts with my Emira, and in the meantime the Emira uses a Mercedes engine, and incidentally I also own a CLS, . It all seems like a big orgy...

    Everyone's Mod Priority List

Just a word of caution (heard from a friend, I do not have first hand experience): apparently the official wheel center bore diameter listed at 69.1 for front and 68.1 for rear may not be accurate. According to him, both should be 68.1.

    Everyone's Mod Priority List

Yes there'd still be a few red interior pieces but not enough to bother me... I might just swap out the seats altogether if a crashed Emira comes along and parts are to be grabbed like a baby wilderbeast torn up by Hyenas. That said, if a color change to the leather is an easy fix I might look...

    Everyone's Mod Priority List

Glad to see so many interesting ideas... for me it's probably the following: vivid red wrap over the original Hessell; downsizing to 19 rims (Brabus Monoblocks?) and meatier tires; adding carbon lip/skirts/diffuser; a possible engine tune; swapping out the red seats for some charcoal ones...

Anyone driven the M139 (AMG A45 etc)?

Genuinely curious here -- if they have a lot of engineering why can't they just make an engine rather than using a 15 year old model from the Camry? I mean it's gotta be a pain in the butt to rely on other companies for engines.

Just got a call from Lotus re 6-9 mos delay for i4 Emira

Frankly I just don't love the Emira THAT MUCH at almost $200K. Might just get a hot hatch instead. It's very easy to get one under 5s for 0-100 these days.

Just got a call from Lotus re 6-9 mos delay for i4 Emira

My guess is that given they are a smaller manufacturer, their operational and logistics capacity simply doesn't allow them to work on too many different versions at the same time, not to mention they have to coordinate the importation of engines form MB under various supply chain issues and...

Just got a call from Lotus re 6-9 mos delay for i4 Emira

Can still take delivery in Q4 '22 if I switch to manual V6, at 30% more (circa $190K w/ taxes). This is in Shenzhen, China. Apparently HK prices are far steeper. But it's not all bad news. They will pay for my first year insurance.

First Eletre rolls off Chinese production line.

So you are telling me that the ELetre is going to be 1.5s faster for 0-100 (or 2.5s on Matt Watson's watch), is two feet longer, sits 3 more people, probably costs about the same or less (@China prices), is much cheaper on fuel, AND COULD BE DELIVERED SOONER??? PS: pricing wise, Emira FE is...

Information and China - Geely and spyware? What's the chances it does not report?

My initial response was: oh, f*ck, if the folks at Lotus have to install software that meet their Chinese shareholder's government's requirements, they are going to delay the delivery dates to mid-2023 for sure?

Is This For Real? BMW Charging to use heated seats?

Well, whether this is a good move depends on an important assumption: Is it indeed cheaper and more efficient for the specs to all come standard? So that guys who choose not to subscribe are enjoying the cost benefits rather than paying for the unused specs in the initial purchase price. I...

Morgan can't keep their website online

The reality of the industry is that it's very hard for boutique auto makers to survive. So it's a good move that Lotus is acquired by a giant auto group that owns Volvo and a good chunk of MB. Even though Chinese cars have been plagued with knockoffs, a few visionaries have emerged that are...

I know this will be somewhat controversial.........

Believe it or not, I actually find manual a bit distracting from my driving enjoyment while I could do the same thing better and faster with paddle shifters. Drove both stick and auto for over 2 decades, and moved away from stick in the past 5-6 years.

Lotus Financial state - interesting read

Not surprising... It's indeed a transitional period as the old models are being discontinued while the Emiras aren't really delivered to consumers in any meaningful quantities yet. BTW, the license fee is smart tax move to fully utilize the UK losses. Imagine that profit being kept in China...

Further thoughts on the Emira from Chris Harris

Honestly, despite the fanfare and the panic on this forum over the past couple of months, my reading of all the reviews is that they are really more or less the same. This interview further confirms that. Reviewers have generally been in agreement on the strengths and weaknesses, with some...

    Porsche article by Jethro B.

You are probably right that the Boxster was the bridging savior before the Cayenne... that being said, my point was Porsche has not always been in the kind of dominant position as it is in today. Just like we could argue all day why Telsa shares went way up since 2021, but fact is it went up...

    Porsche article by Jethro B.

The human brain works a lot like the stock market. Only a couple of years ago, Tesla stock was $35-ish with half of Wall St and their nephews shitting on and shorting it. A year and half later, it soared to $1200+, and every parent that‘s not named Depp is using Elon Musk as a role model for...

    Privacy glass

TBH the worries had been rather unwarranted, because factory tint normally ranges between 15%-25%... so there is a fair bit of transparency left either way. Plus with the mid engine placement, it is far closer to the glass than the face of a driver/passenger. Not to mention the engine is...
