    Emira alternatives

I did drive one, a Stingray 2LT, back to back with an Evora GT (both pre-owned) at the same dealership. For me the choice was obvious. The Corvette felt very well put together and like it would be a very nice car to daily and drive long distances. It felt big, heavy, and undramatic. Like a...

I've followed it closely. It's a great car. Not for me, but I wouldn't fault anyone for owning one.

    Emira alternatives

I agree it's a great car and the E-ray would be my choice however, counter-argument:

I say if a c8 gives you the fizz, sign and drive. Personally I can't trust myself with a c8. I think it looks like a Pokemon. If I bought one, I would not be able to resist the impulse to put Pokemon ears on it. Then I'd be the kind of person who drives a Pokemon car. I'm single, the...

Now I’m curious how they pull this off without adding weight, because I imagine the hinge has to be extra strong, and it must need some sort of strut to keep it aloft no?

    Thoughts on modifications

My biggest problem with the scissor door mod on the Evora is that they ALSO open normally. I find this unacceptable. It means anytime you open the doors "up", you are definitely peacocking. Like actively choosing to be a peacock in that moment. Which feels ridiculous, and try hard. If the...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

If it's in force, I think the question is whether it makes sense to continue the spec if it's only for the US. If Europe and China are both reg'd out, I could see them still abandoning the v6 and making room for the electric successor.

Also if it's still true that the V6 manual has a regulation-driven 2025 expiration, this delay may mean that here in the states we'll only have 2 years of (limited?) production on that spec. Good news for rarity and value.

I know folks will be frustrated with this, and for good reason. For me personally it's good news, and I'm in the camp of Lotus please take your time and get the car right. I bought this car with forever in mind, so I'd like to stay happily ever after.

    What colour have you ordered?

Wow. I'm amazed at where this poll has ended up. All colors almost even, with the except of Shadow Gray. That feels unheard of. Congrats Shadow people, you're buying a unicorn!

📓 Journals Diaries of the first Lotus Emira picked up from Hethel - V6 FE - yellow / ice / silver / sport

The Tesla folks are real nerds (myself included), and on those forums they'd track issues in a spreadsheet, along with owner cars with no issues. Gave a clearer view of how many cars were having what issues, and how many cars were simply out there driving around without issue, something that...

Car shows "limp mode" or "reduced acceleration" warnings (possible ECU issue)

Lol - lucky! It was RHD-only for me, which led to my murder of a couple of traffic cones in the brake and avoid. I got to keep one as a souvenir, though.

Car shows "limp mode" or "reduced acceleration" warnings (possible ECU issue)

Which car? One of the cars went into limp when I was there too (September). The DV car I think. Those were pre-prod cars so I didn’t pay much mind to it at the time.

    Who Manufactures Emira's Manual Transmission

It’s a Toyota transmission that Toyota uses for diesel engines. Lotus swaps some internals, changing some of the ratios and adapting it for the mid-engine layout. So it’s a little of column A, a little of column B.

The EmiraForum "The Hethel Arms" pub and chat

I currently have money down as deposit or reservation on 5 vehicles. - Emira - 2nd Emira (assuming future, hotter version in ~2025) - Cybertruck - Rivian R1T - Chevy Bolt I decided to ask an AI to merge all of these into a single, perfect vehicle. And the result? … Apparently my dream...

    First Emira Breakdown?

I have no data on this but it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that new car issues are up across the board. With belts tightening and supply chain issues lingering globally, many suppliers are probably not producing at top quality. Lotus can triple check every fitting on the line but if a supplier...

    Hi from New Zealand

I've been all around the world, driving many of the best roads this rock has to offer, and NZ is still my favorite place on earth, and home to my favorite driving roads. I could only tackle them in a Corolla, very jealous of those who have proper machines in Aotearoa. Welcome!
