Of course, any of us buying a $100k Lotus probably aren't making wise financial decisions to begin with...:p

    V6 Particulate filter

I hate to resurrect this old thread, but... These early communications make it sound like there is no OPF/GPF for the V6, which is great. However, since the Emira’s arrival on the market, Milltek makes a OPF/GPF bypass pipe and at least one forum member has it installed, so the V6 sounds as...

Do the diamond wheels have less contrast in person?

I didn’t notice the lip difference on the all silver wheels when I chose them. Now I can’t unsee it. Thanks a bunch…🧐

I wish we had a mole in the Hethel production department to see if the NA cars have been loaded in the system yet. Or at least someone in the parts warehouse to see if US spec lights are on the shelves.

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

Thanks for the great roads! Even though I have to enjoy them vicariously through Google Earth, I love to see where you drive in Britain! Our recent trips have been for hiking and sightseeing. Someday I'd love to do a hardcore driving trip and hit these roads with a nice car. BTW, are radar...

Will the Emira fulfill my nimble-car dreams?

You're doing what a lot of us have done prior to ordering, which is to approach analysis paralysis. I did the same thing wondering if power would be comparable to the M2C. It isn't as powerful. This is strictly my opinion, but even though the power is less than some comparable cars, if you...

    USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Yes, I think you've read that correctly. The assumption is that Lotus is now making cars closer to capacity than they have for the last year and they will be able to fulfill the order volume for today's deposits in 18 months. I'll make up some math. If they produce about 40 cars/day x 4...

    Suspension: Touring and Sports options

Sport vs. Touring seems to be like discussing music, politics, or religion. Everybody has the one they like and their reasons why. I think the best thought processes I've heard seem to be around how good (or bad) your roads are, are you going to track it, and what car you are coming from...

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

Thanks for the replies! I'm also looking for what you guys PERSONALLY drive when you have one day to make it count. Sometimes those won't be on the 'greatest roads' lists, but are still fun for you! Oh, and I'm not planning a drive in Britain for myself right now. I'm just truly curious...

    Favorite driving roads in Britain?

So you have your Lotus or other fun marque. Where are your favorite areas of Britain to have long spirited drives? I’ve driven crappy rentals in hilly areas of Wales, England, and Scotland and encountered fun roads, but only by accident going from point A to B. If you have a free day and want...

Help! Nimbus, tan interior, non-black wheels: Black, Red, Silver or Yellow Calipers

That's my spec. I went with black. They are brake calipers and stay dirty most of the time (at least on my cars).

I think it looks like the leather on a new baseball glove. Or a bit like BMW's Cognac leather.

    Does it rev match?

It was fine and a no brake downshift was a no brainer. But it still took me about 15 minutes to get consistent with heel and toeing on my 2nd test drive. I think it was mostly because of the brake. Under light braking I couldn't quite get it right. So I started braking a moment later and...

    Top speed…never ever!

It’s easier to have the Hp as well so you don’t have to do the math. HP exists to bring time into the power curve. Torque gives the instantaneous power and therefore acceleration. HP brings time into the equation which is useful when looking at top speed and ability to maintain that speed...

    Top speed…never ever!

That’s to show where peak HP occurs. I think it’s too simplistic but allows some easy comparison. I’d rather see the torque and hp curves to understand how the car will really operate. Is the power all down low then peters out? Or do you have to wring it out to redline to make it...

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

Our plant guide in March said Nimbus Grey was the most "switched to" color and "Shadow Grey" was the most "switched from" color. This car looks good in all the colors. You could flip a coin to decide and will always be a winner.
  27. KAR120C

What is so great about Nimbus Gray?

Yes and Yes. IMO, it shows the lines better. It's the most complex color that Lotus makes with different size aluminum flakes. It looks different in different light. With direct reflection it will look almost like chrome, and in other lighting look sort of bronze. Champagne is a good...

    Top speed…never ever!

HP is generated by torque AND rpm. HP is a derived unit, not a measured one. HP =Torque x rpm/5252. So, if 2 cars feel different with the same HP, it's because the same torque is being generated at a different rpm.

Help me configure my Emira - Please!

Totally agree and ordered them for the same reason. I tend to run with minimum nannies so I like a tire that communicates well. In either case, if it's like the Evora, it'll burn through the tires pretty quick. Then you have a wide open selection of really good tires.
  33. KAR120C

How is it different in person? What surprised you?

When I first test drove one, I thought it was going to be extremely similar to the Evora. IMO, they are very different. The lines, curves, overall feel is different. The dealer had a couple of Evoras sitting there so it was easy to tell how different. Also, the first one I saw wasn't in the...

    Emira manual torque limit?

Thanks, that was the end point I arrived at the last time I looked into it. I have no data to support this, but I would expect a cheap 3rd cat swap to a test pipe would yield significantly better results, both in power and costs.
  35. KAR120C

    Emira manual torque limit?

Seems reasonable. However, let me put forward this scenario. Let's say I don't care about coast down/fuel economy (which I don't), but only speed or acceleration differences (which I do), then it seems power measurement is the way to go. All other things being equal on the vehicle, if I...

    Emira manual torque limit?

Interesting! I thought the pure ceramics were a no-go for street driving because they don't handle impact as well. I'm sure they've improved over the years, though. I will submit, however, that it should be directly measurable in a dyno as less resistance will result in higher whp since the...

    Emira manual torque limit?

It's been a few years since I've looked into ceramic wheel bearings. Clearly ceramic hybrids are superior to stainless steel, but I didn't find a reputable dyno test of steel vs. ceramic wheel bearings on a car. I'm curious what $/hp results you've found in your research.
