Yes, this is a well-known concept and is called the "Halo product", however, the Emira isn't the Halo product for Lotus, the Evija is. Regardless, I don't know how much of this applies to vendors of so few and specialized products.
I don’t think it has been proven that there is no demand for an electric sports car. I agree that there is little demand for the _current_ crop of them; they are mostly all overpriced, slow, and/or ugly. I love the Evija but $2M is just absurd. In China there are a lot of interesting...
That is such a beautiful color. It’s probably the color I would have picked had I not just picked from the dealer selection. White interior is great but scary (challenging to keep white).
Nice! For yourself? Specs? Let me guess one V6 MT and another i4? There are a couple of colors I love so much, but I can barely find space for one.
As for the original question, Yes, I consciously bought the car with the knowledge that Lotus could go bankrupt any moment (as always). I do...
Nothing really annoys me with the Emira, but it would be nice if Apple CarPlay connected more reliably. That said, my controversial #1 wish is that it had been a BEV. I firmly believe that if anyone could make an engaging, fun BEV, it would be Lotus. Worth remembering that the original Tesla...
Indeed, I’d want the minimal mods myself. No valve controller or 3rd cat delete. Maybe intake and pulley, in addition to ECU. Hopefully that should be enough.
There are a few very vocal skeptics. I’d claim they aren’t representative. Personally I’m very interested in your solution but I’m inclined to not modify anything while the factory warranty is still active.
I had a piggyback on my WRX, but after a while the ECU adapted and the effect was marginal. Replaced with an ECU tune which was significantly more effective. These are just two annecdata and maybe things are different here but it really soured me on piggybacks.
“Best” Emira? Hardly, but a nice set of options and a bold color choice.
“The seller notes that GRP carbon-fiber front bumper inlet trim pieces interfere with the parking sensor functions.”
Interesting, is this widely known?
They didn’t bother to put the rear LOTUS letting back on nor...
IMO it can totally be a daily. I bought it to drive it. Most of the time I drive unless I’m transporting things that don’t fit or if I know I’ll be in stop and go traffic (really tedious in a manual).
As for the rest, I’ve been really
lucky with an exceptional dealership experience and...
I’ve lived and worked in silly valley for 25 years and a lot of it is spot on and only slightly exaggerated. I have friends who couldn’t watch it as it was too close to home. I found it hilarious and Russ “three commas” Hanneman is a brilliant character.
