    2027 Changes

A funny aside: when I was originally shopping the Los Gatos dealer had zero manual. I just checked again and it’s now nearly all V6 MT. Boardwalk too seems to be mostly V6 MT.

    2027 Changes

It’s an easy conclusion but I think it’s far from the full picture; even if the SUV and the other car had been ICE, who would buy them? They aren’t true Lotuses, they are way overpriced, they are (IMhO) ugly, and they are brand new unproven entries to that market. I don’t think they ever had a...

Did you change your wheels? I assume yours is the left-most one and they do not match your profile picture. I have to say, I like them a lot.

    Emira phone mount?

Narrator: it was not, in fact, all there I have a lot of apps, most actually, that doesn’t support CarPlay. Some are messaging apps, including Signal, and it’s desirable to see incoming messages.

    2027 Changes

The Roadster never had a sled battery. It's a battery back behind the seats, exactly like the Evija. The weight balance may be right but I assume Lotus got it right in the Evija and thus could do the same for Emira. I also like hearing and smelling the horses as they drag my carriage (I just...

    2027 Changes

Ignoring for a moment that "Lotus has confirmed it is planning a plug-in hybrid version of the Emira sports car" is an outright lie, I find it difficult to imagine a PHEV (= ICE + alternator + Motor + Battery) is going to come anywhere near the mass of the Emira. I know, I know, we are all...

    FS: Touring Cupholder

This is a brilliant idea, but I'd suggest a trivial option to this: add a blank side so you can chose have a single side only (which depends on how you configure it). In my case I'd leave the bottle in the generally-empty passenger side.

A loud dark verdant (I think) blew past me on 85S today (near Mnt View) which was only the 2nd Emira I have seen in the wild.

The title includes “SF Bay Area” which is south of San Francisco, North California, but I agree that is a large area. FWIW I’m Milpitas and Mountain View mostly.

    Car Cover.

Welcome and congratulations. Be sure to post pics when you take possession. I recommend you search the forum as this has been discussed a lot. I couldn’t stomach the local price for the official cover (I think Boardwalk asked for $1k+) so I got this: https://a.co/d/2IRxk0p However it sounds...

This is not the car I ordered!

FWIW: my car came from a dealer's lot with sport suspension. On normal roads and freeways, this is fine, great even. However, driving up in the North California mountains with the G'awful roads, the sport suspension is not passing the wife test. I'm still considering changing the suspension...

Spotted: Emiras seen in the wild

Wasn’t able to take a picture but I passed a mat grey Emira (didn’t even know that was a color choice, maybe a wrap?) in downtown Mnt View, North California. It’s the first I’ve seen in the wild beside my own.

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

I just learned about the SC01 (plenty of coverage online, but this is a good reference: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Sports_Car_SC01) and this is lighter and faster than the Emira. Seems pretty “Lotus” to me. Very customizable too:

Exclusive Paint option for 2025 cars

I’m in California. In 25 years I’ve only once gotten a (very modest) fix-it ticket for the lack of license plate (on a Tesla) and indeed I had a bracket just for that, so I showed up at DMV to demonstrate the now-mounted plate which came off as soon as I got home.

Thinking of Selling Macan GTS and Mint e46 M3 for Emira

I traded in an Aston Martin DB9 (beautiful but aging tech) for an Emira V6 MT and it’s my daily driver. I did have to keep my Model S for hauling people or dog (and in all honesty, the EV is a much more relaxing cruise).

    Rear Wings

We are strictly in the realm of personal taste but I agree with you, the ducktail looks like a natural extension and doesn’t seem out of place. The traditional wing demands more attention and makes a clear statement (I’m either serious about racing or I want to pretend to be). Q: Is attaching...

    Shmee and the Evija…

While I agreed hard with almost everything, I’ll be the philistine who would love an EV Emira if handling and weight could be the similar. The Tesla Roadster was a ton of fun but heavy. I suspect that we can do a bit better today.

Matt Windle promoted, says he wants to build more cars at Hethel

I am the exact target group for the Eletre as we were looking to replace our 9 yo Model X. However, to me, the Eletre didn’t look great, didn’t seem much like a “Lotus”, and is too expensive. However the absolute deal breaker is that in my 13+ EV experience, 1st gen models have a lot of...

    Shmee and the Evija…

FWIW, I looked through Shmee’s 7 Emira videos and was essentially what I was looking for (factory tour/assembly especially), but this one covered a lot of details I hadn’t seen elsewhere: (At 372 mi in the break-in period — need more time to drive)

    Rear license plate frame/holder (USA)

I just installed my rear US plates yesterday. I had to remove all paper backing to enable the screws to barely fit the plates + the frame provided by my dealer (Los Gatos Lotus). Unfortunately I lost the two screw covers. Anyone know how to get replacement parts? I'm still deciding on the...

    Shmee and the Evija…

Thanks for sharing — what a gorgeous car and what a great video about it. Now I need to see if he (or someone else) made an equally in-depth video about the Emira. This video only makes me more curious about type 135 and I hope it will become a reality one day.

    Matt Windle leaves Lotus

I’d like to see some data on this. Our dealer said it sold well (for them?) and the car is excellent. We’d only had a few minor issues, but the Model X it replaced had a boatload of early issues.

    📓 Journals Adding Lightness

ECU “learning” is the normal operation as they always adapt to changing conditions, such as oxygen density and different fuel. I don’t know anything about the Emira ECU but I find it unlikely that it would be different from my Impreza WRX that I drove and modded for 10 years.

The more V6 sold, the more 3rd party go-fast upgrades it might get, so I want more V6s sold. However, it’s clear there are a finite number of engines left. I’m truly curious about what happens next, not least to the mythical type 135

Sorry for the amateurish picture, but I *just* got it back from getting PPF and had my 3rd drive in a V6 MT and this is the first picture I took. Great fun, but I picked from dealer inventory and all had sport suspension. In the mountains that revealed itself as pretty uncompromising. I think...
