GRP Y-10 wheel/tire/TPMS set available in the Indiana area

I’ve sold my Emira and have an available set of GRP Y-10 wheels for the V6. Greg painted them in a custom color for me (Forged Charcoal similar to Prismatic Powders Forged Charcoal UMB-6578). They have about 1000 miles on them (never tracked). OEM TPMS sensors and stock size Continental...

If you sold your EMIRA what’s next?

Nothing modern would move me from the Emira. But I did just sell it last week for a 79 911SC. Chasing the dreams of a young man, I guess.

Best Alignment Settings for Sharper Turn-In & Heavier Steering on Emira?

I've gone to max negative camber and zero toe in front. I like the results. Definitely reduces understeer. Also, I run the tire pressures at 4psi difference front to rear. (26/30 cold). Rears always heat up more and will result in about 5psi difference when hot. Helps the understeer. I...

    4-point harness

In Shinoo's pic above, you can see a yellow "patch" on one shoulder belt. Under load, it will separate and unfold, giving you additional belt length on that shoulder.

    4-point harness

The Schroth 4pt works on the same principle as a 3 point. One shoulder rolls forward, keeping you from submarining and allowing the airbag to do it's work. No need for a HANS. Any other 4, 5, or 6 pt harness requires a HANS to prevent your neck from snapping.

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

Trail braking can be your friend or your downfall, especially with the all the weight in the rear. When I instruct, I only have novices trail brake for the turn-in and then use the throttle for any subsequent weight transfer. One thing you'll find very helpful on road and track is to make...

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

Now that I understand you were in a sharp turn, @me73 gave good advice. As soon as you feel the front starting to wash out you need to ease back on the throttle to tuck the nose back in. Using the 5lb hot F/R temp difference will also help rotate the car as you transfer the weight forward and...

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

Oh and if you do a track day, run a few laps to get the feel then disable the nannies. So much better when they aren’t intrusive. Not recommended turning them completely off on backroads.

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

Doing a track day is very helpful. You’ll learn how it’s going to behave in a relatively safe environment. These cars are sensitive to tire pressure and tire temps. On track I found it understeered early in my first session, then got pretty neutral as they heated then went back to understeer...

    Sketchy Experince on Offramp?

If you’re able to apply the brakes in the turn you are fine. If the car was actually at the limits, applying the brakes would typically bring the tail around into an even more uncomfortable oversteer. If you are still accelerating hard and you’re feeling understeer just reduce the throttle and...

    Matt Windle leaves Lotus

I have mixed feelings. I'm an engineer. I like engineers. However, an engineer may not be right when it comes to marketing and selling vehicles. Lotus can engineer a good car. They can't sell worth a darn. Customer service, marketing and general public facing image has to be improved...

    Emira weight distribution

Transmission is stock dimensions. Lotus changes internal gears and cuts out a piece of the casing so starter fits. It’s from a truck. Probably why 1st and 2nd are a little noisy.

    Emira weight distribution

The transmission is off the shelf as far as dimensions go, so I’m sure they didn’t want to develop a new unit.

    Emira weight distribution

Moving the engine forward in any significant way would have moved the rear rear wheels forward. To make the trunk larger would have made the rear overhang larger and the car would look goofy. And the trunk is already fairly useless on a trip because it becomes incredibly hot. Perfect...
