I was told by a Hethel employee that it's only the i4s that have this mesh, to stop leaves catching fire in the engine compartment.. Seems a bit daft to have mesh on the i4s and not on the V6s, so maybe they will become standard fitting on all cars?
There's also the sale of goods act in the UK - the fact that it's now a known manufacturing defect, acknowledged by Lotus, should work in our favour, but it's probably going to need a test case beyond the 3 year warranty

I was told, by a Hethel employee, that these were fitted to i4s because dry leaves could catch fire due to the high temperatures at the inlet. V6s don't need them because the inlet temperature is lower. I guess they might now fit them to V6s because it simplifies the inventory, but I was assured...

Emira production is due to restart next week. A source at Hethel says they have a year's worth of Emira orders. No idea what that translates to in terms of numbers of cars!
