New Jayemm Emira video

I just listened to it while walking my dog in the 90 degree (at 9:00 AM) heat.

I've been a Lotus fan for 60 years (at age 10), and have owned three, starting with an Elan Sprint in the 1980's.

Sorry to say I agree with almost every word.

My suspicion is that the core problem is that Lotus convinced Geely that if they only had a gorgeous updated Evora design and a modernized factory, everything else (PR, customer relations, dealer relations, quality control, availability of service parts, etc.) would somehow magically take care of itself, despite the company having no personnel to do those things or even the slightest desire to make them happen.

As one huge example, Lotus doesn't deserve an "F" for their incompetent and self-destructive communication failure (from day one, and continuing to today), they deserve a zero.

And yet we still love their cars :)

Mine's been great. Have had it now for just over a year, no issues.
Same. Bunch of hyperbole in here, and Lotus is an easy target with plenty of issues. I think we all know more refined/reliable cars exist. Few offer the same thrill and excitement though, so I guess your risk tolerance (and luck) will determine your experience.

I was new to the Lotus brand when I got my Emira, coming from years of Porsches, BMW M-cars etc. My Lotus dealer treated me better than any of the others so my personal experience is vastly different.

I've had my Emira V6 for close to 2 years now. Use it almost daily and it is significantly modded. Only faced minor niggles that have been promptly resolved by the dealer.
A year ago I also got an Eletre R that my wife uses. It has been flawless.

It’s my car James reviewed - the 4th of mine he has driven. He is local to me and I drive the “test route” every day to and from work - now in the Emira.

To an extent I understand his comments, but I have not had a bad experience I bought a very low mileage 2 year old car that had all the usual niggles sorted. Caffyns in Kent were excellent throughout the process.

I absolutely adore the Emira. I came out of 997.2 Targa 4 S for it and do not regret the move at all.

The worn seat is annoying but will be repaired under warranty. I think it was the seat James didn’t like, not the ride.

I don’t agree with the comment on AC controls - far better than using the touch screen.

His last sentence thanking me for the use of the car made me smile - “probably the last time”
He reviewed my Aston F1 Edition recently.
He liked the car but not the rear wing
In two videos I became mad for risking dealer support on the Emira and look like a Burke in the F1 with that wing.

I don't watch him much these days. I tried to watch his first Emira video but the first 10 mins was him just nit picking and slagging things off! I didn't bother with him after that.

I guess I have a hard time with this video, as it has not represented my experience with my Emira V6. Mine is a 2025, I have only had one issue with the window weatherstripping and the dealer could not have been more helpful and accommodating. They called me weekly about the issue, wanting to get it corrected, but I am waiting to have it fixed with the first service. It is really only a cosmetic issue, the car doesn’t take on water or anything. My dealer has been fantastic, they both call and email me regularly to make sure I am happy with everything. We had trouble getting the Lotus Tracker connected, and they worked every day with Lotus to get the issue resolved, and then followed up with me to make sure it was working properly…which it does. I find the car is amazing, I have no issues, love the experience. So he can have his opinions, which I feel are tainted, but that doesn’t mean everyone has had the same experience. Just my 2 cents…

I seriously doubt it. Many of us who were early orderers and lived the excruciating pain of the total lack of regular information, lies and delays far in excess of what was acceptable even with Covid; fed back in considerable detail verbally, in writing and finally though cancelling. Since the last phone call chasing my refund (they could not even get that right) I have had no contact with Lotus the company asking for more detail on my cancellation. Ironically I got a call from Lotus Hatfield 3 months later saying my car was ready for collection though by which time I had to break it to the dealer that I had cancelled and bought an alternative.

It made me very sad and I defended them vigorously on here for years until I finally realised I had fallen out of love with the idea of an Emira, any mention of it made me flinch internally so I had to let it go.
I agree I walked off the street and had one 3 days later lol
